Miles doesn't get to ask because you're climbing in through your window. Just as your feet touch the floor you're out the front door, Miles is hot on your trail. You turn a corner and there are the stairs, just the thing you were looking for.
"This better be worth it," Miles uttered as he climbed, he hated stairs.
The girl scoffed, "Shut up, it's so worth it!"
The two climb a few flights and the last pair of stairs lead them to a black door. Y/n looks back at Miles with a smile one that is full of wonder and excitement. Miles mirrors her enthusiasm, even though, he has no idea what has caused it.
Out the door they go and they are met with a dark and quiet rooftop. Y/n gestures to the space around them, tilting on the back of her feet.
Miles looks around, puzzled, "So... uh... this is what you're so excited about?" He doesn't know what to do with himself, why did you bring him here? To the rooftops?
"Yeah!"
Miles's shoulders slumped, you brought him out here for what reason? Miles's grin falls. He wouldn't admit it out loud but he was slightly disappointed with what you showed him.
You don't pay attention to the boy though. He wasn't supposed to be here anyway, this night was about you. Your frazzled thoughts came to a stop it was then you realized you forgot something crucial for your night.
"Wait right there, for one second, I forgot something." It's too late for Miles to protest because you're already out the door, it slams shut loudly, and Miles flinches. And so he waits. He waits for you to come back to the rooftop and a small part of him wonders if you were just going to leave him up here to die.
"She doesn't have the balls," Miles said those words not believing them one bit because you did have the balls. Miles would never admit it, not now at least, that you wore the pants in their friendship.
He knows sooner or later he will have to stop pretending to be this tough guy he wanted to be. The boy has seen you go face-to-face with his old bully, so maybe you do have the balls. He wasn't about to find out tonight though.
Miles took a seat on one of the many chairs that were left up there by the other residents. It was cold and part of the leg was broken, a tennis ball on the bottom was keeping it stable. That's probably why it was up here and not down with them.
You come back six minutes later, the door creaked loudly snapping Miles out of the daydream he was beginning to have. As he rubbed at his eyes Miles saw that you had four blankets in your arms and two pillows. The boy can barely see your face as it peaks over the top of the mountain you've made.
"We can't stargaze without these!" Your voice is muffled.
"Mars-razed?" His head tilts in confusion.
You were now standing next to him, putting the pillows and blankets down your empty hand pointing to the skies. And it's like Miles's eyes light up. The stars were beautiful, they took his breath away. "Wow..." He whispered out, too mesmerized by the twinkling stars above. He didn't have the words to convey how he felt.
It was a sight you had to see with your own eyes.
While he's captivated by the stars you take a step closer to him and nudge his shoulder with a knowing smirk, "Told you it was worth it." And you walk forward to put down the pillows and blankets.
