Ruy POV:

Sophie opened the window and held her hand out to Ruy and Rayni.

"Are you ready?" Sophie asked them. He took her hand, and the warmth from her hand made his heart flutter, he felt queasy all of a sudden and he felt his face turn brick red. He looked at Sophie and saw that she was blushing too.

"Are you two done with the lovefest yet?" Rayni teased. Sophie choked on her words as she tried to say no. Ruy's face turned maroon.

"Anyway, let's go, I can teleport us to the cave," Sophie changed the subject.

"Okay, but you're sure you want to do this? And, are you sure Gethen gave you permission and he won't be searching for us?" He asked just to be sure.

"No. I'm not sure," She said with a truckload of sarcasm.

"All right, I was just making sure!" Ruy replied.

"OKAY, COME ON, IT'S BEEN, LIKE THREE WHOLE HOURS!" Rayni reminded the two, sounding very impatient. With that the three friends jumped out the window, levitating up until they were high enough, and then Sophie dropped them, going down at least five stories. Ruy's insides were reassembled and his heart skipped a beat when he started to grab on to Sophie, almost hugging. His body felt weightless as he fell and it went by fast.

The first second..........

It all went by too fast and in a flash, they were swallowed up by something, but Ruy was too afraid to open his eyes. At the fourth second they were in the dark, damp, dirty cave. The cave was pitch black and they couldn't see anything. Suddenly, he bumped into something and a scream escaped his mouth.

"Chill Ruy, it's just me," Rayni assured him.

"No need to scream like a little girl," She teased.

"I-I didn't scream like a little girl..... and I knew it was you, I was, ummmm, uhhh, testing to see if you were on alert. You passed the test," He quickly made up a very unbelievable story as an excuse for his screaming. Rayni shot him a look and mouthed liar before Sophie told them to shut up.

Sophie's POV:

"Rayni, can you give us some light?" Sophie asked. Rayni responded by illuminating the cave with a silver ball of light. Further into the cave, they found a rock, with a bottle and a note on it. Sophie picked up the note and read:

Sophie,

Good job! you are one step closer to going to Exsulia! This bottle will take you to a land, far away, using the light from the star I have bottled for you, Bliupda. Look for the only plant there, a cactus. Please. Be careful, and go to Exsulia in one piece. I know you have a history of always almost dying, unfortunately, this is the only bottle I have, so be careful. Love you.

Gethen

Ruy took the bottle and held it up. Like Gethen said, inside was bottled light from Bliupda. The substance was bright red, and Sophie had the feeling that the journey to Exsulia would be like the one she, Sandor, and Keefe took to meet the Black Swan.

Sophie took the bottle and popped open the cork. The shiny substance spilled out in the form of a red light, which enveloped them in red light. The light was so bright, it was blinding and next thing they knew, they ended up in a desert, but not a human desert. They were in a red desert with no shrubbery or a single sign of any civilization living there.
