We got out of the ship, back to the land. I followed the crew in the dark littles paths until they got to the tavern. Hook arrived next to me and grabbed my arm.
"Don't take this little party as an invitation for escaping. You know what happens if you do, I can destroy you and your family. And you still owe me a favor. So again, don't think I'm taking my eyes off you for a second," he said. I simply noded and looked away.
We entered the noisy place and sat at some tables. Bottles of rum were empty after just a little while in this place. I sat there, next to the captain, but did not say a word. He looked at me several times, but kept laughing with the rest of his crew. I didn't miss the fact that he drank much less rum than the others, which I thought was unusual.
"You want some ?" he asked after a while.
"Why not ?" I finally said. I took the bottle from his hands and drank the alcohol. I needed something like that, get my mind off the things that were happening recently.
Hook took back the bottle and took a sip too.
"Do you want to just go get some fresh air ?" he suggested. I gave him a glance.
"Aren't you the type of guy that loves to hang out in a tavern and drink all night ? Plus, you proposed to get out here," I answered.
"You think you know me, but you don't," he answered.
"Let me guess, you're better at hiding who you are than me. You aren't an open book," I replied.
He got up and grabbed my hand, which took me by suprise. I followed him outside the noisy tavern without saying a word. He kept walking until we were on the docks, not so far away from his ship. At that moment, I decided I would talk and clear whatever was happening.
"You know, your little... seduction game won't work. I'm not... interrested, I don't want any of this," I said. He let go of my hand and took a step back.
"I just want you to trust me and understand that I won't hurt you. I just need you help," he declared.
"Why would I trust a man that's keeping me as a prisonner ?" I snapped.
"I-I'm doing this because... " he started but I felt his confidence flying away. He was not the man I saw with his crew. He was probably showing me the Killian Jones part, leaving Captain Hook behind.
"Because what ?" I asked.
"Because I'm desperate," he sighted. "I'm desperate to get my revenge. The man who took my hand he... he also took the woman I loved. If I became a heartless pirate like you called me, it's because of him. There's no more love in my life, my heart... it died with her," he confessed.
I was surprised of what he just told me. He had a trembling voice, his hand was shaking. I understood what it was, to lose love. That's excatly the reason why I put up walls and repelled that feeling. I thought I would never love again, just like he did.
"Milah ?" I asked after a moment, remembering the tattoo on his arm.
"Aye," he answered.
"I'm sorry," I added. "For your loss. I know what it feels like," I declared.
"You do ?"
"I do," I looked at the ground, seeing the water flow between the craks of the wooden planks we were standing on.
"I'm sorry too," he added.
"Yeah, well. We can't bring them back. I moved on, apprently you didn't. Anyways,"
"M-Maybe we should get back to the ship. We're going to Neverland tomorrow and we'll need all the strenght we can gather for this journey," he said.
"Yeah..." I mumbled.
I followed him to the ship. Before I got down the stairs, I turned to him. He had his eyes to the sky, facing the beauty of the stars.
"Good night, captain," I said. He looked at me and smiled.
"Good night, Swan," he responded.
