Lanzhan just chuckled in amusement before he grew more serious. “You follow my lead, okay? You just need to follow my cues and try not to step on my feet.”

“Sounds easy enough,” Weiying said uncertainty.

“You go with the left foot first,” Lanzhan explained. “Watch.”

He slowly moved his left foot. Weiying followed him, and Lanzhan went through with the second step, with Weiying mimicking him. Then He looked up at him.

“How did I do?” He asked.

“Good,” Lanzhan told His reassuringly. “Now let’s go back to the right. This time, move with me.”

“Okay. I can do this.”

“You can do this.”

Lanzhan moved his right foot, and he moved in sync with him. They paused again, and Lanzhan nodded in affirmation.

“Good job,” he said. He gave His a half-smirk. “Now let’s repeat it without you watching your feet, okay? Think you’re ready for that?”

Weiying took a deep breath before He nodded. “Let’s give it a try.”

They moved through the first step rather smoothly, but on the reverse, Weiying dropped His gaze to their feet.

“Eyes on me,” Lanzhan murmured, and He brought His eyes back to his face.

“Sorry,” He said.

“Don’t overthink it,” he told Him softly. “Let the steps become like second nature.”

Weiying nodded again. “Okay. I can do that. Second nature.”

They repeated the steps. While He kept His eyes on him this time (or, more accurately, somewhere over his shoulder), on the reverse steps, His foot landed on top of his. Lanzhan winced, and color rose in Weiying’s cheeks as He dropped his hand and stepped away.

“Shit, I’m sorry,” He said, rubbing His forehead. “I don’t know if I can do this.”

“Weiying, you’re doing great,” Lanzhan told Him earnestly. “We’ve got a few days to get this right, so don’t feel bad for stepping on my feet, okay? And honestly, you were doing amazing.”

Weiying worried His bottom lip between His teeth. “It’s just weird without music, you know? There's no rhythm to follow or anything.

“So put on some music,” Lanzhan suggested. He considered it for a moment. “Why don’t you put on the wedding song? That way we can get the pacing right for it.”

Weiying nodded before He went to where He’d left His phone on the bed. He had the wedding playlist on His Spotify app, so He opened it and found the song. He pressed play and hurried back over to Lanzhan. He held out his hand and He took it. They quickly resumed the position as the opening notes began to play.

Weiying forced Himself to keep His eyes up and allowed Lanzhan to subtly guide His. His hands were warm against His waist and hand, and He tried to ignore the way his touch had butterflies battering the walls of His stomach. He tried to focus on his movements instead. He knew the steps well, moving fluidly, like they were second nature. Weiying let the rhythm of the music guide His steps alongside Lanzhan’s own leadership as they went left, left, right, right.

He was able to follow him as he began to angle them, turning them in a slow circle. He only stepped on his feet two more times, but they didn’t break pace. Lanzhan guided them through four more steps before he lifted his hand off His waist. Weiying had seen plenty of movies, so He knew that he was going to guide His through a turn.
