The whole family seemed to be handling Tarkans absence differently. Sanem worried the most when she didn't hear from her son every week. He was quite adamant about timing his phone calls. Friday evening by 8:00pm.. each week.
If it was 8:15 and he hadn't called, Sanem was begging Can to let her call his phone. " Can, maybe something happened to him, maybe he can't call because he's sick, maybe he needs our help." She would beg, her eyes filling with tears.
But inevitably he would call before his mother was through presenting her argument to Can.. " See my love, there he is. You worry for no reason." Can would say, reassuring her that Tarkan was quite able to take care of himself.
Each week it was the same conversation, Sanem would worry that he wasn't eating properly, and Can was worried he was studying too much. " Son, you really need to take this time away from home to have some fun." he would say, hoping that he wasn't being consumed by his school work.
Tarkan always laughed, pleading with them not to worry about him. But it seemed to fall on deaf ears with each phone call. " Please, mom, don't worry. I cook. I make sure I fix what I need. And as far as having fun or going out, I have a little but I really have to stay on top of my classes.
But the call this week brought something different, as he relayed his news to his dad. "I don't want you to worry dad, there is a club that I'm going to with Burak and Kaan next weekend.
Can clapped his hands together, " Well good, is it a special occasion? He asked, feeling the excitement. Tarkan cleared his throat, " Well it's Kaans birthday, and we all are going to celebrate. I think it might be a wild one, but I promised I would go, so....
" So you will go and have fun....right" Can urged, relieved he was even considering the night out... " Yes dad, I'm going and I will have fun.. it's not like I don't want to have fun, it's just drinking and women just aren't my thing right now." He argued.
Tarkan had already had a few of the girls from the school ask him out. But he never accepted, nor did he want too. He thought that to be a bit too brazen and it made him uncomfortable, to be quite honest.. He was suppose to be the one asking the girl out, not the other way around. But in Paris, well it was quite different....
The girls flocked to him. He was indeed the son of Can Divit. That thick and wavy dark brown hair, streaked with those dark auburn highlights, his deep brown eyes that could render any woman speechless with a single glance. His body was naturally sculpted with very defined muscles, much like his father had been in his early years. And all of this was displayed on a frame of over 6 ft tall... Some girls may say he was perfection....
With Tarkans promise to his dad that he would go out and have fun with his friend, they said they're good byes. The look from Sanem after they hung up was one he never liked to see, "What babe, why are you looking at me like that?" Can asked nervously, as he stroked his beard.
Sanem tilted her head, " Can, really. You are all but forcing our son to go out drinking and pickup women. So many things could happen. What if he"...... Sanem began to tell him. Can raised his hand to stop her, " Babe, nothing is going to happen. Tarkan is much to responsible to let anything go wrong, and so what if it does. He needs to know how to handle himself in different situations." He spoke gently, smoothing the hair back from Sanems face.
"What could go wrong?" She thought. There were a multitude of things that popped into her head at the time. But she knew Can was right, he needed to be free every once in a while.
She took a deep breath, " Ok, ok. But if he gets involved in something stupid, he is your son, and I expect you to help him get through it." She announced defiantly to his face.
Can smiled, pulling her close to his body, " Ok, but I don't think I have to worry about it. Tarkan is smart, as well as a Divit." He told her as he kissed her cheek and then made his way to nibble on her ear.
She felt her body weaken, " A Divit you say. Well I recall another Divit that got in plenty of trouble with women. And not just you, but your brother as well." She mumbled, as she felt a shiver run down her spine as he continued exploring her neck with his lips..
Can snickered, " I never had trouble with the girls, that was Emre." He muttered as he let his mouth travel down her neck and across her shoulder. " You were the only woman that I had trouble holding on to, my love.... But I wasn't about to let you go, once I got my hands on you." He joked...
Sanem pushed him away, looking annoyed, " No you may not have had trouble with the women, but I sure did.... Or have you forgotten about that." She stated, tapping his chest with her finger.
Can knew better than to laugh, or even smile for that matter. " No babe, I haven't forgotten about any of that. I know you went through a lot because of Polen, and I am sorry about that. I have apologized many times for her actions.."
Just the thought of that time in her life made her angry. The humiliation she had to endure, the mean and nasty things that the women had done to her because they thought they owned Can.....It was still a thorn in her side at times.
Even now, when a new female client comes to the agency, she can see the way they look at her husband. And Can is still oblivious to it all, never sees what she sees..... But she makes sure that before they leave the office, they know that she is Mrs. Can Divit, and that he is very much married...
" Come on sweetheart, don't let our conversation with Tarkan bring up old problems. You are all I have ever wanted, and you are all I will ever want." Can swooned, hugging her up close against his warm body.
Sanem sighed, " Ok, but just so you know, I'm keeping my eye on you." She said, snuggling in closer and giving him a kiss on the chest. She knew that Can could always sweep her off her feet with nothing more than a touch....But it was also good to put up a fight every now and then.
They were just curling up together on the sofa when Emine came in, plopping down on the sofa with them. " Mom, Dad... I want you to remember what you are telling Tarkan, now that he is living abroad. I expect the same treatment when I go off to school." She announced, full of confidence and spunk.
Sanem looked at Can, her eyes wide, " You see dad, Emi expects the same treatment as Tarkan." Can stammered about for a minute, before answering, " Uhh, uhh, well, we will see. But things are quite different for a girl going off to school"...
Can stretched his arm around his daughter, giving her a big hug, " But I don't want to rush you away. It will be a long time before you will be going off to school." He said, as his heart sank at the thought.
She was his baby child..... Her going as far away as her brother was something he didn't want to think about.....
