JOHANNA WAKES WITH TEARS FROZEN TO HER FACE. The sound of a cannon, harsh and brutish to the ears, brings her abruptly back to the world of the living. Whatever few hours of sleep she got after keeping watch until midnight are over ─── and, in all honesty, she's surprised Kaia hasn't killed her. It would be easy, very easy. She can picture it, as she sees Kaia instinctively reach for her axe at the sudden noise ─── while she sleeps, the sun-kissed brunette takes it, much like she's doing now, and hacks away at her defenceless form until she hears another cannon.
