It had been many years since Sarah ventured the Labyrinth. She still wakes in a cold sweat to the memories but her friends are always there for her. Now, she was married and just had a beautiful baby girl. Hoggle, Ludo, and Sir Didymus were left to watch over the baby while Sarah and her husband were having a night out.

Hoggle would look at the baby while she slept, Sir Didymus and Ludo trying to make warm milk for when she woke. She slept so peacefully, like nothing in any world could ever bother her.  The red book was on a bookshelf across the room, its red cover aging with its yellow pages. Hoggle scuffed "That damned book, that story.. I hate all of it." He said, his grumpy attitude getting the better of him. After a while the baby woke, opening her beautiful (e/c) colored eyes as she looked around. Sir Didymus and Ludo returned with the warmed milk, Didymus was rather proud of himself for figuring out a microwave and Ludo just held the bottle to keep its warmth. Now the room went quiet, one question to be answered. Hoggle finally spoke, "How are we gonna feed this thing?" It was usual for them to entertain her with stories or perhaps put her to bed but Sarah has never been gone so long that they've had to feed the baby. Luckily Sarah entered just as the baby started to cry. The trio hid in their usual places to avoid her husband. Sarah walked up and quickly picked the baby up, hushing her and looking for the bottle which Hoggle slowly brought out to her and quickly hid away again. "Thank you, Hoggle." she would whisper turning her attention to the baby.

Many years went by like this, the trio taking care of YN until Sarah and her husband came back or until the child was asleep. Little did anyone know that every night an owl perched itself outside of the house. Its coo sounded broken, forgotten, and lonely. It watched the family for a while until one night it stopped showing up.

That owl was indeed the Goblin King. Watching the girl that took his love and made it her weapon of escape- grow into a woman.. married and with a child. He'd hope she'd wish away her own child just for her to venture back into his Labyrinth.. just so he could see her again. He finally given up on Sarah, feeling as though he could never love another the way he did her. His book lay on the shelf, a mere memory now.

Once YN was 10, Sarah, Hoggle, Sir Didymus, and technically Ludo explained the story of the Labyrinth.

"I was foolish to wish your uncle away like that. I'm glad he has no memory of it but every night when I sleep..it still feels so recent." Sarah sighed, her voice lined with hesitation as the memories played in a perfect loop. Hoggle added "Yes.. That Jareth was an unruly beast.."  They continued to speak of how he was and the entire story of what the Labyrinth was for.. Yet this only made YN's interest in the story stronger. Every day she would read the book from front to back. She was determined to meet him and challenge his Labyrinth, she felt that she could best her mom she just didn't have an end goal like her. This want grew into her already adventurous spirit as time went one.

"Was there anything about the Labyrinth that you enjoyed or something that lifted the stress of it off your shoulders, mom?" YN asked, looking at Sarah whilst reading the front cover once again, the words seemingly more bright now then ever. Sarah would nod in response "Of course, YN.. Meeting my friends and getting Uncle Toby back." She began to regret telling you about it all. The only reason she did was to explain why her friends looked different. "You really shouldn't worry about that place, YN. I believe the Goblin King got what he deserved." Sarah continued her chore, eventually boring YN with her answers. YN would lay on her bed, staring up at the painted ceiling and sigh.

This dream haunted her all the way through most of high school. It was YN's senior year, and she still held the book close to her. Every day just waiting for a reason to call upon the Goblin King. A day where she could finally face him.
