~*~Joey's POV~*~
We were sitting downstairs waiting for Lindy when Aubrey brought out snacks. She made a charcuterie board and fruit tray and also brought out some cookies. Acre was the first to grab a piece of cheese, munching on it while waiting patiently. Well, if you could call constantly looking out the window and walking to the door patient.
When the doorbell finally rang he jumped and looked to Aubrey, the panic setting in right away. I immediately grabbed his hand and held it, letting him squeeze mine to ground himself like Atticus said would help. It did.
I was surprised when it was a younger girl that came around the corner, maybe only Atticus's age or a year older at most. In her arms was an adorable baby girl wearing a pink dress, a cute matching hat, and the tiniest little shoes that gave me insane baby fever.
"Acre, Lindy's here. Come say hello to her and Jazmine." Aubrey smiled, holding her hand out to Acre as he slowly got up to go say hi. I got comfortable with Atticus on the other side of the couch as he waved to Lindy.
"Aubrey said you're going to be a dad. That's so exciting. She thought you could use to practice to calm your nerves."
Acre only nodded as Lindy walked with him over to the couch, him sitting before she carefully placed baby Jazmine in his arms and showed him how to support her head. He was hesitant at first, but easily relaxed when the little cutie smiled at him.
"How's it going, Lindy?" Atticus asked as she sat in the chair next to us, smiling as she watched her baby.
"Great. Jaz and I are having a very relaxing day off." She chuckled before looking at me. "You must be the infamous Joey I've heard about. Atticus's boyfriend is big talk down in section 3. We're all shocked someone managed to tie him down."
"Actually um..." I looked over to Acre who smiled at me and nodded before looking back to the baby. "I'm his fiancé. And Acre's. And Acre and Atticus are fiancé's too."
"That's so sweet, I'm proud of you, Acre." Lindy smiled before beginning to talk with Atticus and the adults about work stuff. While they talked about their boring stuff, I watched Acre with the baby.
He was so cute. He held her tiny hand as they stared at each other, and I finally understood what Atticus meant when he always told Acre and I we looked like two puppies meeting. Even though she was too little to do anything, they still seemed to communicate well enough that when her lip started to quiver, Acre knew exactly what she needed and put his pinky in her mouth.
~*~ Acre's POV ~*~
She was so little and cute. She sucked on my finger and held my other hand with hers, closing her big brown eyes and starting to doze off.
I couldn't look away from her. Was this what it would be like when Brynlee was here? Would she be this little and calm? I hoped she would cuddle with me like this. I liked this. She was easy to hold too, I didn't feel like I was about to drop her. Atticus and Joey probably wouldn't be able to hold her because I don't think I'd be able to put her down knowing I made her.
"How are you feeling, Acre?" Aubrey asked, smiling at me as I held the baby close and curled my knees up to fully cuddle her.
"Good. She's happy." I told her while grabbing a cookie from the snack tray. Lindy smiled at me and returned to her conversation, and it made me feel happy that she trusted me with her baby. Maybe I could do this right.
