Chapter 33: The Return

"What's his problem?" Ben asked.

"It's kind of a crazy day, Max. With the delay and all." The director complained. "Maybe we should reschedule your tour. You remember the way out, right?"

The team watched the director walked away from the scene before addressing the magicians.

"What are you doing here?" Y/n growled.

"Investigating the purple lightning from the news." Elliot shrugged.

"We've been observing this anomaly for the past few weeks, and we figured that all of you would be in the scene." Karen added.

"Elliot was wondering what kind of 'group' you are, and he's surprised to learn of his findings." Ellen chimed in with her arms folds on her chest.

"It's no wonder that Ciel is stuck with you, young man." Elliot flashed a friendly gaze at Y/n.

"What's that supposed to mean?" The boy glared more.

"Y/n.." Ciel intertwined her fingers with his. "Calm down."

"So you're here to help? Not to take Ciel back?" Gwen inquired.

"That will be an irresponsible of me to take away her childhood." Elliot placed his palm on his heart in sincere manner. "And I assure you. We are capable to defend ourselves."

The team shared a glance before accepting the magicians' assistance, but Y/n is still on guard by Ciel's side.

The group ventured deeper into facility and entered a restricted area, and they're avoiding any encounter with the facility personnels.

"So, I never did wind up going into space with NASA." Max told the kids.

"Bummer." Ben commented.

"But, you did go to space as a Plumber, yes?" Karen wondered.

"I see you've done your homework." Y/n snarled.

The team made it to the front of a command center, but the security is locked. Max pulled out a Swiss army knife, but it's actually a Plumber gadget. He jammed the device into the control, and the door is opened without problem.

"Plumber's standard issue." Max smirked.

"Neat." Elliot commented.

The group entered the empty command room and began to take control on the terminals for information.

"NASA records everything. Let's see about that purple lightning." Max narrated.

"We'll looking into other terminals."

Elliot nodded to the twins, and they began to work.

Time went by and yet, the adults still found nothing. Ben let out a yawn in boredom before leaving the room while Y/n went to Elliot's side.

"I see you still don't trust me." He said.

"If you know what we've been doing in this summer, then you know that we can handle this without you." Y/n protested.

"I agree but, I simply wish to know the boy who made friend with a being close to a god."

"Simple. I treated her like a normal girl despite having superpower."

The adult giggled. "I see, I see.. are you happy with her?"

"She made.. things more interesting.." He replied before pulling his hood to cover his blush.

"Then, I'm counting on you to make her happier."

"What are you? Her dad?"

Elliot chuckled again in amusement. "In a way. I mean, I brought her into this world, didn't I?"
