A Plan is Brewing

Start from the beginning

Thanks to the help of a nice guy in a red jacket littered with pins, (Y/N) managed to find the office to turn in their forms and verify their schedule. The receptionist smiled and pointed (Y/N) to a couch, saying their student peer guide was on their way up to meet them. The office was remarkably well decorated as far as school offices go. There was a case filled to the brim with all kinds of trophies, plaques, and medals the school earned.

"(Y/N)?" A girl's voice called out, snapping (Y/N) from their thoughts. They looked up to see a girl with raven black hair pulled into low pigtails, utterly infuriatingly blue eyes, and an unabashed love for the color pink.

(Y/N) smiled, getting up from the shockingly comfortable seat and faced the girl "Hi, am I right to guess that you're Marinette?"

She nodded, her pigtails bouncing along with her as she gave (Y/N) an infectious smile "Yeah, welcome to Françoise Dupont High School." she gestured around, clearly unsure of what to do with her hands "I'm sure you'll like it here. Most of us are super nice," she spoke as she led them out of the office and back into the halls.

"Most of you?" (Y/N) asked, suddenly feeling their anxiety settle back in.

"Yeah, but don't worry. You'll be fine! Usually you can tell who to avoid just by looking at them, I already talked to some of my friends and you can sit with us at lunch and stuff if you want." Marinette smiled, clearly trying to be nice but something about it felt...off. Maybe she was volun-told to be the guide? She looked tired, like she hasn't been getting enough rest and has to force her enthusiasm.

(Y/N) couldn't help but feel like they heard their voice somewhere before, but they chose to push the thought aside "You didn't have to do that," they put their hand on their heart "Thank you. I hope I didn't cause too much trouble at all."

"Nonsense, new students are half the fun of a place like this." Marinette waved off (Y/N)'s self-deprecation with ease, clearly understanding of the anxiety around being somewhere new. "You're not trouble at all. Come on, class should be starting soon." Marinette took (Y/N)'s hand and guided them to Ms. Bustier's class.

Marinette opened the door and eyes immediately shifted to (Y/N), who shifted uncomfortably at the sudden influx of attention. They were a little sad that the nice boy they met wasn't in this class from what they could see. Marinette smiled at (Y/N), giving a reassuring squeeze before letting go.

Ms. Bustier smiled, closing her laptop to better address the class "Everyone, we have a new student! Their name is (Y/N) (L/N), make sure to introduce yourselves throughout the day and make them feel welcome!" she dismissed the class to get back to their independent work, signaling for (Y/N) to come to her desk while Marinette went to hers.

(Y/N) complied, trying to ignore the lingering eyes they could feel on them as they did so. They felt the ground begin to vanish from underneath them but did their best to feign composer as Ms. Bustier spoke in a soft, quiet tone. "Your grandmother called me this morning and filled me in. I'm truly sorry for your loss and the circumstances that led to your transfer, but we're happy to have you. If you need someone to talk to or have any problems, my door is always open, okay?" she smiled as (Y/N) nodded, "You'll be sitting next to Juleka and Rose, they're up in the back" she pointed to a girl with black and purple hair in very tastefully alternative clothes and a bubbly blonde talking very enthusiastically about something while the black-haired one listened with an adoring smile on her face.

The blonde got quieter as (Y/N) approached, and (Y/N) felt a pang of guilt for killing her vibe. They tried to look as invisible as possible, refusing to be a burden and ruining some poor, unsuspecting girl's conversation. The black-haired one noticed and smiled at (Y/N), a look of understanding in her eyes.
