Have you ever dreamed of light? A white silhouette completely enveloped in a glare of dim light? And that this would tell you a piece of history? Disconnected from reality? Here, these were the common dreams or paralysis that a girl often had... With a past largely unknown to her... Erased by trauma, loss and pain... This figure sometimes visited her, and repeated the same phrases to her.
"I can't understand you, don't riddle me!"
"In time you will understand and when the time comes you will realize what I told you at the time my sweet Laila. Unfortunately we don't have much time..."
"But I want to know who did it! Who has-!"
"It's not time, it's not time...it's too soon....You will understand, when everything is black. When the emptiness swallows you"
She didn't have time to produce a single sound that something immensely cold and slimy stuck to her legs, and looking down she saw that black substance that was slowly dragging her towards the bottom of what looked like a black sea. Requests for help weren't enough, no one could listen to her... Except that white figure walking in the distance. And now she began to hear a sound rumbling in her head... a very annoying sound and now recognized by almost every single living being.
DRIN DRIN DRIN DRIN!!
—-----------------------------------------------------
She heard a loud noise inside her head, a cumbersome and electronic noise... It was her alarm clock, which marked 7:00 in the morning precisely. The girl wakes up slowly and reluctantly hearing that annoying and irritating noise, and it meant only one thing to her. Getting ready to go to school, like every morning of the week except Sunday and Saturday. A small hand came out from under the covers, giving a sharp knock on the bedside table, missing the alarm clock, but managed to turn it off with the second attempt, giving a sharp blow on the button... And shortly after a head with wavy brown hair came out from under the covers, rubbing her face slowly on the soft, warm pillow of her bed.
<<Laila breakfast is ready! Get ready!>>, a familiar male voice called from the ground floor of the house<<I know you turned off the alarm to get some more sleep!>>
<<Uncle today I can come in an hour later! The Italian teacher is missing! I told you last night, don't you remember?!>>a female voice, that of Laila Brown, yelled from under the covers<<Just give me five minutes to recover psychologically! God what a stress!>>
With that she wrapped herself up in the blankets as if it were a burrito and closed her eyes again, hoping her uncle didn't come up and wake her up again. She hated when he woke up in the morning, for multiple reasons... Of course, one of the many was school. Her uncle, Uncle Ben, knew her very well, being that he lived practically a lifetime with her as you can put it...Sixteen years lived with her uncle. The cause of this? The death of both of his parents.
<<Laila I won't repeat it to you a second time, you have to get out of bed! I can't take you today because I have too many things to do!>> the deep male voice from the floor below rumbled again, this time with a more decisive tone <<You'll have to take the bus, and you know how long it takes. Get off for breakfast it's ready!>>
Laila decided to open her eyes this time, also because she had no other alternative but to go downstairs and do what she was told. With slow and cumbersome movements she managed to get up and recover what little lucidity she had left from the night before, an evening of mad and desperate study for the test she had to give on Wednesday. School had started for her long ago, she was about to end of October now. There was never a shortage of checks and, with those, also the usual school torture. All in all, Laila didn't mind school, she still got good grades and followed the lessons as any student should; but the people were the only big problem that made them hate that place.
