What happened...

To the Diluc Ragnvindr;

The sweet, caring, loving, warm brother Kaeya Alberich once knew?

He certainly wasn't the boy looking at him with hateful, plain resentful, seething rage.

Kaeya stood across the room in the foyer of the mansion. His sword was at his side, as it always was. "Luc..." He mumbled, tears attempting to prick his eyes. "You- you dont understand- I didn't have a choi-""No!" Diluc yelled, cutting him off. "Don't 'Luc' me. You're the one who doesnt understand! What the hell is wrong with you, Kaeya?!" He seethed, "You seriously thought it was a good idea to tell me this on the day of my fathers funeral?!" He gritted his teeth, his brow furrowing.

Kaeya was taken aback. When was the last time he was seriously yelled- no, screamed, at by Diluc of all people. He wanted to correct him, yell out "He was my father too!", but he didn't. He just...stood there. Looking at his brother. So hurt.

Diluc scowled, wiping the tears from his eyes. "You know what, Kaeya? You are the reason he's gone. If you showed up earlier, this wouldn't have happened! He wouldn't be dead if you were just gone!" The redhead yelled. This wasn't like him. He would never say these things. But his mind isn't in the right place. He's angry. So angry. So angry and so hurt to the point that he puts his hand on the grip of his weapon, watching as Kaeya notices this, slowly backing up a few paces.

Diluc's expression was slack, fuming. He took his sword from his side, swinging it in a small circle as he loosened his wrist. "Kaeya Alberich. Cause of Crepus Ragnvindr's death. I think that would look nice as a remembrance note at your funeral. Well, if those hopeless knights will lift a finger to even try funding it."Kaeya gulped. He didn't know when, but he started shaking. He went to back up more but- then he realized his back was to the wall. He's a dead man. He knows it. Diluc is going to kill him, and he doesn't even blame him. Then, Diluc ran at him, raising his sword as he neared.

"Im dead. Im deadimdeadimdeadimdeadimdead" Was all Kaeya's brain could manage to scream. The blood is pulsing. Head is pounding.

He groans as he's knocked to the floor. His side stings. It hurts. He thought he knew pain. Hell- he lost everything once. Now its about to happen again. He's holding onto his side, it hurts so. bad. Diluc has a foot on his chest, making him unable to sit up. Kaeya's eyes are watering- no, he's definitely sobbing at this point. He lifted his hand, attempting to get his brothers foot off his chest. It was hard to breathe. He's hyperventilating. Then, he sees the blood on his hand. Glossy red. So, so much of it. He wanted to scream. He wanted to cry. No, he wanted to cry even more

Diluc didn't let him budge. He raised his sword again, planning to bring this to an end now. His blade began to infuse with pyro, the heat radiating- the flames beginning to flicker off the claymore. The blood on Kaeya's hand glistened. He screamed. So loud. Adelinde raced down the steps, so fast she nearly tripped multiple times. Her eyes widened in terror as she saw the scene in front of her.

Kaeya kicked Diluc off of him, finally, with enough struggle. He was sobbing. His side, and his...his eye. They were bleeding. His world turned red. As the boy slowly got to his feet, he staggered, holding his eye. "Gah..." He grunted, "Diluc...why?" He whispered, as if he could find it in himself to ever blame Diluc for what's happening. In the end, it'll always be his own fault. In his mind, at least.

Diluc didn't answer. He just charged at his brother again. He ignored everything. The damage, the pain, the screams and attempts of stopping this from Adelinde.

He was cut short of his newest attack as a light shone above Kaeya, who raised his blade to hopefully stop this blow. He closed his good eye, being blinded red by the terrifying light that has now shown up right over his head, and the obscene amount of blood on his body.

A vision descended from the godly light, landing in front of Kaeya, on the floor. A cryo vision. Of course. This was all one big joke on him. First, he gets chosen for a vision, and on top of that, its a cryo vision. To save his life. From his own. brother. If this isnt a big fuck you from the world, or just a jest little way of it mocking him, he wasn't sure what is.

He grabbed the vision, it nearly slipping out of his bloody hand as he held it. He looked at Diluc, shooting a blast of cyro at him as his brother raised his weapon again.

Adeline was helpless. Miserable. She can't lose her boys, not right after Crepus' death. All she seemed to be able to do was scream at them to stop, while sobbing. But of course, she was getting older...she really can't do much.

Kaeya shot another blast of cryo at Diluc, who gave his vision another go. He stumbled and slipped backwards. Kaeya staggered forward, slamming the hilt of his sword into his brother's temple. Diluc fell back, being knocked out by the blunt force. It wasn't enough to permanently damage him...but enough to leave him out cold for a good few hours at least. Kaeya looked over at Adeline, smiling painfully as he fell onto the cold tile.

Rosaria sat there with her cup tilted to her lips, dumbfounded. "You...wow." She cleared her throat, staring at Kaeya. He looks very hollow. Staring straight forward, downing cup after cup, glass after glass while telling the story. "...I'm sorry." Was all she could think to say. "I hate when people say that, it always sounds fake- and pitiful. But seriously. I'm sorry- and," She sighed, "I'm sorry I asked."

He looked over and smiled charmingly, "Curiosity killed the cat." His smile dropped a bit, "I lost two things that night. My eye, and my brother. And I don't think I'm ever getting him back. No matter how much I apologize." He mumbled, and they left it at that. The story took a lot out of him, and he was on the verge of passing out on the barstool.

I'm Sorry. - Sincerely, AlberichWhere stories live. Discover now
