Bonus Chapter: Fallacy x Encre

Start from the beginning

Two things hit Fallacy at once: One, these must be the fugitives his brother had warned him about. Two, the insurgents from the north must be in contact with other anti-monarchist cells across the continent. How else would these criminals have figured out that the northern borders of Fallacy's domain were being strained by some unruly savages? The thought that news of his inability to handle rebellions against his rule had spread beyond his control made his anger coil into rage, and he thrashed around in the net. The human took a step backward, away from the net, smiling. His fangs glittered in the last light of the stars, and he took a deep breath.

"I can smell mortal blood, men," he gestured toward the darkened forest. "Let's go grab a snack, shall we?~"

Once they left, Fallacy tried to pull the silver net apart. He tried and tried, but the silver weakened him. He looked up at the brightening sky, knowing that his fate is sealed. He would burn here, alone, and no one would find him until it was too late. And Encre! If he found Fallacy's dust, it would destroy him. Whether the legends were true or not, he didn't want to think about what would happen to Encre once he learned that Fallacy was dead. He hadn't wanted to live without his soulmate; there's no telling what Encre would do.

He snapped his head to a patch of brush as it moved. He sighed shakily in relief when his son popped out of the bushes. The vampire prince stormed up to him and sliced the tree branch clean off the tree, then helped his father out of the silver net.

"Who were those guys, Father?" he snapped, fury of monumental proportions written on his face.

"Your uncle warned me about them," Fallacy explained shakily. "They are rebellious criminals of his kingdom, and they crossed over to mine in hopes of garnering more support from the northerners. Come on, we have to stop them."

Jasper nodded, and together, father and son raced off into the forest.

... ... ...

Encre scanned his surroundings carefully, ready for a blood-starved vampire to jump out at him. His familiar dagger and sword in hand, he made his through the trees as quickly as he could, taking care to avoid making any unnecessary noise. Beneath his veneer of determined calm, he was growing more and more worried. What if Fallacy had taken on a larger group of bad vampires than he could handle? What if he got captured, or killed?! The sun was rising rapidly, but he hoped that Fallacy was somewhere away from the burning light.

A rustle from the bushes to his right made him whirl around. Pulling his dagger up to his chest, he approached the bush, raising his sword to pierce whatever was hiding in the bushes. To his surprise, a rabbit hopped out, and he lowered his weapons in helpless amusement.

"Run along, little guy," he muttered, kicking a rock at the skittish creature, "or else you'll be eaten."

He heard a twig snap, and if he had hair, it would be standing on end. He turned just as something slammed into him, sending him hurtling into a tree. He fought to regain his breath and balance, but a hand gripped his neck. He opened his eyesockets to witness a human vampire bare her fangs at him. He sliced upwards with his sword, successfully driving her off. Before he knew it, he was surrounded.

"Hello, fresh meat!" One vampire lunged at him, but he dodged, which put him within the reach of another vampire. They swiped at him with their claws, but he was able to get in close enough to plunge his sword into their chest. They gasped as they turned to dust, and he saw an opening to put more distance between him and the other three vampires. He backed away into the clearing as the other three circled him.

"You are more feisty than my other kills," the female purred, stalking up to Encre with a twisted smile. "I like my meals to put up a fight!"

She lunged, but Encre sliced her neck. She fell to the ground gagging on her own blood, and the two remaining vampires suddenly attacked. One was able to knock the sword out of his hand while the other caught his arms in a vice grip, preventing him from attacking. The one behind Encre, the ringleader, chuckled lowly, his breath tickling the artist's neck. Encre struggled as he felt the vampire behind him lean in to bite him, and he snapped his eyes shut in terror. This was the end. He was going to die, these vampires were going to suck the life out of him. Fallacy might find his dust, and then... he didn't want to think about what would happen next. Would Fallacy be furious? Would he hunt down and kill them? Or would he be just as devastated as Encre would be if he had found Fallacy dead? He pushed that thought away. They weren't that close. Sure, they were soulmates, but that didn't mean much. Perhaps it would be better if Fallacy didn't care too much about him if this is how his life ends. That way, the vampire king wouldn't be destroyed, and would likely get over him soon.
