Tintin kept his eyes on me and I winked mischievously. Snowy appeared beside me, barking joyfully. I leaned down and he jumped into my arms, licking my face. I couldn't help but giggle. "I missed you too, boy." I pet his head.
I quickly ran down the dock, eventually making it to the drunken tub of a ship I was first kidnapped on. Tintin and Haddock stood there talking and I stopped to take in the sight. I was relieved - happy that everything was over. We had the scrolls and the bad guy was on his way to be locked behind bars. We were all alive and we were all going to be okay.
"Tintin!" I exclaimed, running at them. They both turned towards me and Tintin, having the biggest smile, opened his arms for me to jump into. "We did it!" I exclaimed, happier than ever. I heard Haddock howel in laughter as Tintin quickly spun me around and held me tightly.
When he let go, I reached over and hugged the Captain too - he deserved it. "Thank you, Ellie." He smiled.
"I think these belong to you." I said, handing him the scrolls. He smiled and took them, but then shook his head. "They belong to all three of us." He smiled, handing them to Tintin.
"But how are you feeling?" Haddock asked me, changing the subject. Tintin turned to me, anxious to know as well.
"I'm all right. My lungs will burn for a while but I just needed rest - however, everyone is anxious to hear about how you saved my life, Tintin." I told him.
"I am anxious to report, Miss Simmons." He teased, knowing that it would make a great follow-up article for the newspaper.
After Thompson and Thomson came by and dragged Haddock off to ask him a few questions for their investigation, Tintin suddenly brought me into his embrace again, catching me off guard. I wrapped my arms around him and smiled - I knew what was going through his head. "I'm all right, practically perfect. And it's all because of you." I told him.
"I can't help but think about if--" "You can't think about those things, Tintin." I stopped him. "I'm here. And you're not getting rid of me." I laughed lightly.
Tintin leaned forward and pressed a kiss to the forehead. The same kind of kiss he gave me when I woke up from the crash and when he thought I was asleep on the plane. My face flushed red when I remembered those three words he spoke to me.
"I owe you my life, Tintin." I told him. He shook his head. "You would've done the same for me." He replied.
"I'm not just talking about what happened on this trip." I said, but he just looked confused, so I continued. "You're the best part of my life, Tintin... you're my everything. I can't imagine my life without you in it. When my parents were murdered, you were prepared to fight your parents, tooth and nail, if they didn't let me stay with you. You wouldn't let me be alone."
Tintin's eyes softened but I wasn't finished. "We do everything together - we live together, work together... we have each other backs. When you got shot last year, it made me realize that you were someone I couldn't lose - otherwise, I would go insane. Maybe that's what was going through your mind when I got trapped in that monolith or almost drowned." I ranted.
Tintin was about to say something but I placed my finger on his lips stopping him. "I wasn't asleep for the whole flight back here. I heard what you said to the Captain - That you love me, you've loved me for a long time." I said. Tintin's eyes widened and he became nervous.
"I want you to know that I love you too - I've loved you for a very long time too. God, I've loved you for my whole life. My thoughts begin and end with you. And after everything we've been through, you're never--"
Tintin dipped his head and kissed me passionately, interpreting me. He used one of his hands to wrap around my back and pull me closer while the other hand caressed my cheek. I melted into his embrace and kissed him back fiercely. I never wanted this moment to end. His lips were so soft yet this kiss was so desperate.
