"WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?" Patrick stared. If he still had arms, he would've been pointing in the direction of the creature frantically.
Maxwell rubbed his eyes. Surely, they were deceiving him? But how could they? The creature was stood right in front of him.
Infront of the two objects, was a leaf, only a bit taller than Maxwell. Her entire body was black, as if she was a silhouette. The only parts of her that weren't black, were a bright red. The edge of her body was a bright red scar tissue, same with two of her arms, the edges of a leg and two of her arms. She had four arms aswell, two connected to one elbow on each side. She only appeared to have one, red eye. Her pupil was white, yet she appeared to be able to see just fine. A permanent stream of blood fell from it constantly.
The pair of scientists stood still for a moment, barely breathing. After an eternity, Patrick spoke up.
"...if we stay still do you think it will notice us?"
"That only works on dinosaurs, armless idiot!"
"Oh.."The two of them peered at the monster looking fiend stood infront of them. It looked back at them, in what looked like fear. It was hard to tell, considering her only facial feature was an eye.
Maxwell sighed in relief as he slowly reached into his bag. "It doesn't seem to be violent. As long as we don't make any sudden movements we should be fine. Though... I must say, this is an interesting specimen... I'd like to take it back with us." Maxwell, to much horror from Patrick, pulled out a rope, keeping eye contact with the leaf as he took a step forward.
That was his mistake.
As soon as his foot left the ground he was stood on, a ring, containing 15 disembodied hands, like the ones replacing the trees, but smaller, shot up around the leaf. Then another. She didn't seem to react to them, only staring at Maxwell, trying not to blink.
This, however, only sparked a grin to form across the lemon's face as he continued walking towards the leaf.
She backed up in what seemed like fear, until she could no longer back up anymore.
Maxwell finally reached her, the hands were most certainly a problem, however, as he found it almost impossible to get through them. He'd need a distraction to capture the creature.
Turning to the investigator, he called out.
"PATRICK! COME OVER HERE!" Finishing his sentence, he proceeded to mouth out, "I need a distraction."
Patrick nodded and slowly walked over there, locking eye contact with the leaf and attempting to make talk with her.
"Nice weather today, eh?"
The leaf only looked up at the knife in fear.
KNIFE. KNIFE. KNIFE..
"Come on, don't squirm, you know that you like it
@̸̰̝̝̪̣̹̋́̈̏̏̒͐͗̉/̸͕̦̺̱̹̞͎̄̈́͌̂̅͘͝\̶̝̼̯̽́̃͘/̶̛̞̩̎̊̔͊̔̓͛̆̄͝͝ͅ\̶̢̞̪̣̥͕̫̟̙͚̩͕͑͗̌̋͑̆͜͠3̷̢̛̮͖̟͖̼̭̖̖̮͋̔̃̒͜͜ͅ|̴̳̅͛̊́̓̊̔̂̉̕͠þ̷̢̧͚͓̣̉̔̇̊̾͗!" A figure said, dragging a knife down the girl's side. This was followed by multiple screams of pain shooting from her victim, before the tears started. "Aaaaw... don't cry yet, WE AREN'T EVEN HALFWAY DONE."
The leaf looked up at maxwell suddenly, he was holding her in place, and had tied her hands infront of her. "Sorry about that Patrick, I didn't think she would try to attack you." He shot a glare at the leaf, who only shut her eye in fear. "Anyways, think you're up to keeping to leaf in line while we walk?"
"I don't have much of a choice, do I?" He sighed, standing up to grab the leaf by the arms, much to which she resisted to the best of her efforts.
"Great! Let's go then!" Max said, jumping up and walking into the forest, Patrick and his new captive following in tow.
"Sorry about him." Patrick reassured the leaf, attempting to make conversation again. The leaf stayed silent, looking away. "You aren't very talkative."
The Leaf narrowed her eye. "So uh.." Patrick was speaking again, looking straight ahead. "Do you have a name?"
The leaf nodded, and finally said something. Though, this freaked Patrick out, as it sounded like- she was speaking, using samples of his voice. "I have a name."
"WOAH- HOW- HOW DID YOU DO THAT?"
"Do that?"
"You just did it again, you mimicked my voice."
"Mimicked voice?"
"Yes!" Patrick sighed, there was no use trying to make conversation here. The leaf was very obviously scared, and Patrick wouldn't be surprised if she didn't even speak English!
Patrick, however, was pulled out of his thoughts by maxwell, as he stared into the forest. "Do you hear that?"
"...---..."
"Hear what...?" Patrick looked around, trying to figure out what maxwell heard.
"...---..."
"That beeping! Do you hear it?" Maxwell looked in the direction of the sound, followed by the leaf using his voice to speak.
"Hear it!"
"What the-" Maxwell looked at the leaf, taken aback.
"She can do that for some reason." Patrick sighed. "I'm just suprised she can talk at all!"
"...---..." the beeping sounded again.
"Okay, tell me you heard it that time!" Maxwell pleaded the knife, staring at him.
"Yeah... it sounds like morse code?"
"What does it translate to?"
"SOS."
Maxwell rubbed his hands together as he smirked. "We should follow it." He exclaimed, running down the path.
Patrick and the leaf struggled to keep up. Eventually, however, they managed to reach Patrick.
Patrick was staring at a rock in disbelief. "Oh.. oh my god."
