Everything came back to her like a broken record.

It was like a movie looped in her head.

Dawn's cliché act.

The electric pillar.

The wait.

And then, Donna.

Oh god, Donna.

Make it stop.

It had to stop.

Even the bittersweetness of the alcohol wasn't helping. Or maybe she hadn't had enough yet.

Abruptly lifting her head from the bar, Jane slapped her palm three times on the dark wood. Part of her hoped she'd hurt herself in the process. After all, it was all her fault. She was a damned damsel in distress for heaven's sake. So why had she suddenly decided to act all heroic?

"Yes?"

Jane removed her sunglasses to give a shadowed look at the punk-emo kid behind the counter. She looked him over from head to toe, clearly already under the influence of alcohol, before taking the empty glass from beside her hand. Then she tapped her index finger against the rim.

"It's already the fourth. Don't you think you've had enough?"

Jane let out a bitter snort with a grimace before raising her eyes to the youngster."What are you? A fracking therapist?"

"As a matter of fact, yes. I'm in my third year," He replied proudly.

Unfortunately, Jane didn't care.

She didn't care at all.

Jane let out the umpteenth cold laugh. as she put her glass back down with a slightly irritated clink."Want to hear something funny?"

"Uhh... okay."

Jane lifted her hanging head to look at him with ringed, bloodshot eyes."I'm a fucking therapist too. And believe me, whatever you're learning in class right now, it's pointless. Because in the end... when you... when-"

Jane took a deep breath in an attempt to catch her breath before fighting back tears. She swallowed hard as she tried to breathe through her own sobs before taking a deep breath.

She raised her hand in disbelief before looking the bartender straight in the eye."Because when someone sacrifices themselves for us, these stupid courses are useless. Okay? They just leave us with a stupid survivor's complex and crappy guilt. So much so that you wish you were in the shoes of the person who died. There. There is the fucking truth."

"Okay so uh you seem to be coming back from a funeral so uh-"

"Serve her her drink, please." Intervened a new person leaving Jane to lower her head again, her long brown locks barricading her face from the newcomer."I'll have the same."
