*Disclaimer: I'm not a researcher and I'm not a scientific person. I don't know any scientific terms nor do I consult with any professional so for this part, you can see it as me writing gibberish! Be kind to me!
Hey, Shen's here. Today's side-research subject is [Telepathy]!
I've been living in an era where the internet and handphone are a common thing that every household has. The convenience of long-distance calls, searching for information through the internet, or even watching the scenery on the other side of the Earth from the screen on your computer have become things that anyone can enjoy.
Even back before I was kidnapped, the convenience of having a handphone is clear as day. You can literally do whatever you are able to do on your computer on handphone. Browsing the internet, taking pictures, uploading files, downloading files, taking notes, playing games, and, of course, making calls.
No one can deny the convenience of having advanced technologies.
On the other hand, the world where I got kidnapped lacks the convenience of said technologies. Forget about long-distance calls, just sending a letter can be a hassle. There is no service for sending letters. People depended on traveling merchants to send their letters. It would be much easier if the recipient is someone who works at a fixed place like Adventurer Guild otherwise, there is a possibility the letters won't reach the recipient.
Pigeon carriers do exist but they are not available to the public and, the Pigeon is not actually a Pigeon, it was a different kind of bird. I believe the bird's name is Bluren or something.
Bluren has blue feathers with 2 long yellow feathers that act like tails at its back. The bird looks fascinating, but unfortunately, I don't have the chance to research this bird further. They said that Bluren can memorize faraway places and even faces. The data that I have is only from hearsay.
There is also another method of sending a letter which is through teleportation magic. Teleportation has been a hot topic on Earth for decades. Teleportation means surpassing the fourth dimension. Although I said hot topic, it was akin to a light conversation between colleagues. Besides, Science-Tech wasn't my forte.
I don't know the cost of sending items via teleportation. Someone who excels in that topic said that it depends on the items' mass and teleportation target distance.
Let's see if I can translate it into a simpler term.
I will use numbers to explain them. Let's say that the average mana pool of a mage who is around level 200 is 2000 Mana Point. The cost of a single 10-meter teleportation magic for a 1-kilogram item is 100 MPs. The cost can be reduced further with a magic circle that acts as some sort of a gateway. Of course, the target location needs that same magic circle. With the magic circles, the cost of teleportation becomes 50 Mps. Remember, this is for a 1-kilogram item.
If we calculate it with a single mail which I would say is at least 10 grams, the only MP being used would be for the distance. And that would be 0.5 MPs per 10 meters. So, for an average level 200 mage, one can send mail 40 kilometers away. The distance can further increase with additional mages helping with the teleportation.
So far, this type of teleportation magic is only useful for anything lighter than 500 grams as the normal cost wasn't cost-efficient. If it was only within the kingdom, they might use it without hesitation but when it comes to between kingdoms, a lot of consent is needed not only from the side of the sender but also the recipient.
Compared to all of that, using thought transmission, or the so-called [Telepathy], make things easier. My first thought transmission was 2 months after I escaped the prison. When someone I don't know of sending thought transmission, I receive them as images and words instead of voices.
