Chapter 18
It had been three days since Mew had dropped Tae at his place and never turned back. Tae had waited one day and then tried to contact him but his number was directed directly to the voicemail.
He went to his place too but it was locked. Tae was frustrated. Why was Mew mad at him? He didn't say anything or did he? Why was he being punished?
He was banging his head on the punching bag when Jose entered the gym. He chuckled looking at him.
"Last time I checked it was a punching bag, not a head banging bag". He was Tae's security guard before Mew and a good friend.
"Fuck off Jose". Tae flipped him his middle finger and slumped down on the sparring mat.
"What happened Tae? Tell me". Jose postponed his own exercise and laid down beside him.
"It's complicated Josey". Tae murmured looking at the ceiling.
"As in?"
"I don't want this engagement". It wasn't a statement but a mini bomb that Tae dropped.
"But why? Fiona is a nice girl. And your dad is quite eager to extend the business with her dad. Last time I checked, she is the only heir".
"I know. But..". Tae sat up on the mat. He didn't know how to explain it without being obvious that he was supporting and defending Mew.
"But what Tae? And where is Mew?" Jose suddenly realized that Mew had not come for three days.
"Fuck. That's the actual problem Josey". Tae held his head in between his hands.
"Can you be clear for a while?" Jose huffed. Instead of answering, Tae was even more complicating it.
"Okay here is the thing. Let's suppose you respect a person a lot. Like more than your life. The person is so important to you. And then there comes another person who doesn't regard and respect person A. And straight out gets rude and mean.
And person A leaves you without a word. How would you react when it's not your fault in the first place?" Tae said it in a riddle.
Jose looked at him carefully for a while. He was assessing the situation.
"So you say, your fiance disrespected someone close to you. Let's say Mew, and he left you without giving a chance of explanation?" Jose said and this time Tae looked at him like a fish out of the water.
He nodded anyway because Jose was right in his analysis.
"And now Mew isn't talking to you?"
"Yes". Tae said in a defeated tone. "I didn't even do anything." He said picking up the edges of the mat.
"But did you stop Fiona when she was being rude to him? Did it happen in front of you?" Jose said. Tae felt the whole roof fell down on his head.
Shit. He didn't speak a word when she was throwing profanities at Mew. She was accusing him of the interruption between their kisses. She was straight out calling him an employee and what did Tae do? Nothing.
He was just sitting and looking at the drama unfolding in front of him. He, not once stepped out to put Fiona at her place that Mew was not his employee. He was his godfather. His Dad's best friend.
And that was the reason Mew was mad at him.
"Damn Jose. No. I didn't. Oh my god. How can I be so stupid. I have to go." He rushed out of the gym as if his tail was on fire.
He was running to the garage when he realized he was sweating and he needed a bath and change of clothes. Smacking his forehead he ran inside and almost ran into a housemaid.
