"What is that smell?" Alex called with me beside him as Nigel was caught lurching over his table
He didn't mind and continued as we walked, both of us going to a different side, "ohhhh, fu-no, you gotta be kidding me!"
He hurried to open a widow and try to have the breeze wash the reeking smell of death from his room, where he was condemned to sleep each night
"Where did you get that?" He asked as he crouched beside him, "Does it matter, Alex? W-we should go."
He didn't agree
"I asked you a question! Where. Did. You. Get. It?"
He still didn't care to answer as he worked on the poor bird's dead body, examining its insides
"All right, let's make this nice and clear. I mean, I don't like you very much. In fact, I'm really beginning to dislike you-but if I have to spend time in the same room as you, you can at least show me some common courtesy."
I huffed and put my books down. Obviously, we weren't going to study for some time until he managed to make his point clear like the stubborn boy he grew to be
"Is there anything else?"
I gasped and covered my mouth with a chuckle before turning away to not get bitched at by Alex
He ran out and slammed the door, leaving me there with Nigel without a second thought
"Could you hand me those?" He asked as he motioned to a tool he needed out of his reach
I walked over and handed it to him and took the seat next to him, putting on a pair of gloves and sighing, "observation one: you have massive balls and have no care what others say-although you probably should. Observation two: you enjoy dissecting animals and studying their inside. Either really creepy or really cool. Observation three: you're obviously skilled with this, but you're pulling too hard. Their insides are delicate and can be ruined just by being squeezed between a toddlers fingers."
I took the tweezers and showed him a more delicate approach, pulling the intestines from the bird is a slow and gentle motion
"Who knew the church princess could get her hands dirty?" He teased as he copied my method
"Did you kill it or-"
"No. I found it." He reassured with a small smile as he continued to dissect and study what he needed
I took and threw away my disposable gloves, holding his shoulder and saying, "one: I'm no damn princess, and two: open the window next time."
"I will, y/n. Sleep well."

"ALL RISE!"Music chimed through the gathering halls and they marched to their places and we stood with perfect posture, waiting for the next demand
Our father got to his post and gave me a waving finger that signaled me to come to him
I walked beside him and emt both Alex and Nigel's gaze before staring everyone off on our chosen song like my father had planned
"Onward, Christian soldier. Marching as to war...with the cross of Jesus. Going on before. Christ, the royal-" I gazed off into the crowd to find both my brother and his roommate didn't dare to sing with us
I felt like both were inside my head telling me to follow them and not some stupid sermen
I had read something on twinning once where two people can be miles, states, and even continents apart and communicate through their thoughts
I would understand if that's why I felt Alex's presence in the back of my mind, but why was Nigel there, too?
It made no sense
