Emmi's POV:
I was finally able to catch up on the AP homework I missed on the first day of the new semester. I really hated how much homework the teachers gave in the first day, it annoyed me. And with musical tryouts at the same time, it made it hard to work on everything at the end of each day, but thankfully I had the weekend. So, I cooped myself up in my room with no distractions until I got caught up. By Sunday, I only had a few assignments left and I could finally relax.
I felt bad for ditching my friends and boyfriend for the weekend, but thankfully they understood my reasons. I hated being behind on schoolwork.
I felt my phone go off as I was reading the last chapter I needed to read for English and I noticed it was from Maddox.
Maddox: grab your coat. I'll be picking you up in thirty minutes.
Me: I'm not done reading yet
Maddox: take a break and come to a hockey game with me. The girls are coming and so are the guys. Please? You'll have fun!
Me: *eye rolls* ugh. Fine. You convinced me. 😜 I'll see you in thirty
Maddox: yay! 😁 love you!
Me: love you too 😏
I put my phone down, closed my book and went downstairs to let my parents know what the plan was. I've never been to a hockey game before, and I didn't know Maddox even liked hockey. The more you know.
I saw my parents in the den watching a show with Brooks. It was one of our favorite game shows to watch as a family. My dad noticed me first and he pat the seat next to him. "Look who came out of hibernation," he chuckled.
I rolles my eyes with a smirk, "Dad, I wasn't hibernating."
"Did you finish everything you needed to get done?"
"I did, but I have a question to ask you and mom." I chewed the inside of my bottom lip as I waited for their full attention.
My mom paused the show and looked at me, "What's up, sweetheart?"
"I know it's a Sunday and you usually don't like me being out late, but everyone's going to a hockey game and Maddox said he'd be here to pick me up in thirty minutes. I don't know how long it's going to go, but I promise I'll text you when we get there and when we leave."
My parents exchanged glances and my heart pounded with anticipation. The clock was ticking and I was going to explode if I didn't get an answer.
"You can go, but on one condition." My dad said.
I looked at him with eager eyes, "What?"
"Call us if the game runs after ten. We trust you can make your own decisions and you are all caught up on your homework. Stay safe and be careful. Those games can be a little bloody on and off the ice."
"Thank you, daddy! I will make sure to call if the game runs late." I hugged my parents and ran upstairs to change out of my pajamas that I had worn all day.
The doorbell rang as soon as my feet hit the bottom step and I ran to it, knowing who it was. I opened the door and saw the handsome brooding bad boy dressed in hockey fan attire. "Ready?" He asked.
"Sure am!" I grabbed my coat said goodbye to my parents and we left for the hockey stadium.

"I am warning you now that it's probably going to be super loud when we get in there. These stadiums aren't as large as basketball or soccer, plus it's cold." Maddox explained as we walked down the block. He had to park several blocks away just to find a spot downtown. He grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together with a smile. Then he bent down and kissed me on the cheek. "The others are already there, saving seats for us."
