After Laura was done crying the two journeyed deeper into the cavern. Where they saw more of those glowing rocks. "V are you alright?" the markswoman asked. He nodded, "Yes for now I am alright. Though do you mind closing your eyes for but a moment?" he requested leaning heavily on his cane. Stopping she shifted her body to look at him as she tilted her head. Shrugging her shoulders her dark hues closed.

At least her innocence is still intact. Thinking to himself. Gazing at her lips V leaned in placing a hand on her cheek. This caused the archer to flinch a little. Chuckling at the reaction he brought their lips together. The sensation making the woman jump again. The two stayed like that for a moment. The world melting around as Laura' brain went blank.

Separating V smiled as Laura blinked her eyes open. "Wh-wh- what was that for?" she exclaimed. He gave no answer except rubbing her cheek. Removing his hand he turned and continued walking. "Hey V, answer me." she blushed.

My journey is nearly at an end.

Very quickly the two found themselves kneeling on a ledge. Malphas stood in the center of the room. Ok now that's a demon. Laura shivered at Malphas' frame. How could I ever be related to something like that. remembering what the bird said. "If he reaches the fruit it will all be over. Even Mundus could not reign over the human world..." thinking out loud. "Surely we know he will not."

At the name Mundus, Laura' heart wrenched in pain. Gasping in pain the woman clutched her chest. As quickly as he could V put his cracked hand against his companions mouth almost effectively pulling her away from the edge. As the poet pulled them away the demon woman heard the two. Slowly the woman part of her leaned back staring at the ledge. Turning around the squelching of the bird demon footsteps echoed across the cavern "Aaah, an intruder perhaps?"

Laura, who was in a fetal position against his chest, was still grasping for air with V' hand over her mouth. The poet glanced to where they entered but he knew they wouldn't be able to make it. Suddenly Griphon appeared "Oh shit oh shit Malphas knows were here! We can't take her! Not in either one of your conditions." he whisper shouted as he tried to hide them from her gaze. "I know but we must get through this, somehow." the black haired male whispered back.

The squelching footsteps grew louder. Frantically V closed his eyes hoping beyond hope that a miracle would happen. "I'm coming~" Malphas' haunting voice making Laura gasp in pain more.

A shot rang out. The demon turned enraged but soon silently laughed. "Sparda's kin." she hissed now fully face Nero who had a smirk plastered onto his face. Just like with the name Mundus' Laura groaned in pain. "But your nothing more than an empty shell with no power." mocking him as he began to circle them. "You are as weak as your flesh, human~."

Having Blue Rose on his shoulder he huffed. "Hey at least give us some credit. Were stronger than we look." rolling his eyes at the demon. Rolling his shoulders he smirked at the demon. "But... theirs only one way to find out." egging Malphas to attack.

Waving their arms the three women smiled. "I will enjoy this."

The bird demon lifted its head and screeched, the battle had begun. While Nero fought Malphas Laura was still breathing heavily. "Why is this girly so upset about a name?" Griffon huffed. No longer trying to hide the two. "Do keep in mind at who those two beings were as well as how powerful they were. One still being very powerful." reprimanding the bird. "Yeah but girly doesn't even know who Mundus even is." Griffon argued. Both V and Griffon felt the air shift.

Looking down at Laura her body began to pulse while her eyes started to turn black with dark wisps forming around her eyes. However unlike the last few times her eyes were switching from black to blue.

Looking to Griffon, V handed him the devil breaker; Ragtime. "Give that to Nero." he ordered. Nodding the demon took off. "Here ya go kid, V was holding onto that for you." he said as he dropped the breaker somewhere near the hunter. Circling back to his master he continued to do V' little errands while V himself tried to comfort the bow-woman.

"Laura can you hear me?" he whispered. Said woman was still curled into a fetal position but she had stopped gasping for air and was now shivering. Laura nodded her head not saying a word.

"Most boring magic show I've ever seen." Nero commented. Malphas said nothing as she continued her onslaught against the devil hunter. The hunter made a lunge at the demon but she just disappeared into her portal, laughing at his attempt. She reappeared on the other side of the room.

The battle went on for a little longer until both dark haired adults heard Malphas scream in agony. "Little wanderer can you stand?" V asked. Laura nodded as she got off of V. The two stood up with V stumbling slightly. Immediately Laura supported him. Glancing at each other, the poet was wide eyed. Laura's eyes had changed. Her left eye was black but her right eye, it was blue. The same clear blue that it was before when she met Dante and Trish. The poet shivered but strangely not in fear. That right eye gazed at him as if he was a precious jewel and for some odd reason he thought the short woman had grown a few inches around the height of his shoulder.

Blinking he shook his head. Opening his eyes Laura' eye and height were back to normal. Was that an illusion made by Malphas? he asked himself curious as to what he saw. The short woman blinked tilting her head in curiosity. Loud panting caused the two to peer down at the fallen demon.

Nero groaned in disgust as he watched the women part of Malphas get up clawing in the direction of him. "Ha- how do you have so much power left!" she panted. Not even sparing a glance at her, Nero aimed Blue Rose at her. Shooting at her, the bullets finished the demon off with a scream.

Sighing with relief the white haired male holstered his gun. Glancing up to the ledge Nero huffed. "You two can come out now."

Flapping was heard as Griffon came down with V. Landing on his hands the poet grunted. Standing up V again stumbled. "I guess I owe you one." he guessed. "Yeah." Nero's tone having suspicion as he watched V walk. Griffon had circled back around to get Laura who landed beside V.

As the poet made his way to Nero he tripped on his feet. Surprise at the sudden lunge forward, Nero was about to go towards him when the dark haired woman beat him to it.

"You should turn back. Your body's not gonna last much longer here." the hunter told. Continuing to walk forward with Laura' help the poet shook his head. "That I can not do. I must go!" he exclaimed. His labored breathing hardly convinced Nero of the sorcerers strength. Just as the two reached the hunter V collapsed in front of him.

Forcing Laura to follow him. "Damnit, V." the white haired hunter chastised as he grabbed ahold of the males arm. "V please don't push yourself. You need to get at least some rest." the bow-woman begged kneeling down. Green hues shifted from the floor to the woman. "I must go to... where Urizen is." V replied.

"Why! Why the hell do you have to-'I BEG YOU!" Nero started exclaiming but V interrupted him. At the cry blue and black hues peered down to the cracked man. Staring up at the boy the poet begged Nero again. "This is my last request."

The boy stared at V debating whether he should give in or not. At last he sighed and shook his head. "Fine" kneeling back down he drapped V' arm across his shoulder with Laura doing the same thing.

Lifting V onto his feet at the same time. The two carried the poet to their destination. In the darkness of the cavern a devilish smirk came upon V normally stoic face. At last I will be whole. And maybe I'll remember her. his eyes glancing to Laura.
