Chapter 5

Being a lawyer also isn't easy. We get many disturbing cases. Some of them like murder, suicide, attempt to murder, theft,  kidnapping, cyberbullying, rape, robbery and much more of them. Each one is different. And our main goal is to bring justice to the innocent and punish the criminals by law.

This Idiot here, Ryan Woods, is my best friend and a detective. We have known each other since we were 12. We started working together as a team to solve these types of cases. He is annoying at times but he is a good person by heart and I am glad to have him in my life. Don't tell him I said that. It will boost his ego.

We reached the place in less than an hour. We started unloading the boxes with the help of movers.

I watched the familiar road with awe. It's been a long since I have been on this side of town. I was 12 when I left this place. It's been 10 years. I never noticed how much I missed this place until now.

I walked towards the elevator and pressed the button. Ryan came and stood next to me.

"Well, I haven't informed you about your neighbours so listen to me carefully. You own the entire 2nd floor. The first floor and the 3rd floor are owned by Mr. James Heart, owner of The Heart's Hotel Industry. They said they like to keep the rooftop for them and their neighbours to have free time here. He lives here with his wife Valerie and his two daughters. The elder one is Mimi. She is so sweet and like a baby sister to me. She is 18 and goes to Lockwood High School. She is kind and friendly. You two will get along well. And the younger one is Madeline. She is 15 and a special child." he ranted as I told him to run a background check on them.

"Ok, ok. I heard enough." I cut off his ranting. I wasn't paying attention to whatever he was saying.

"Hello, Mimi." Ryan greeted someone. I turned to have a look and I stood there mesmerized.

It was a girl. She looked so breathtaking in her floral knee-length dress. She was short and young which was cute. She let her silky hair down. Her golden brown locks were getting in the way of her eyes and she gracefully pinned it behind her ear.

Her eyes were ebony and they sparkled in the sunlight. My gaze travelled to her lips. It was natural pink. She didn't put any makeup on her which was impressive. It was easy to see her freckles. Her nose was small and straight. My gaze travelled further to her chin. It was pointed. She was cute.

Her fair complexion shined so brightly in the sunlight. She had two moles on her neck, right below her right ear, very easy to notice. That reminded me of someone...

She was slim and had a perfect hourglass figure, that could turn on anyone. She looked beautiful. Like an Angel. They were chatting but my eyes were glued to her. I wasn't paying attention to their conversation and suddenly I came back to my senses and paid attention to whatever they were saying.

"Please, Ryan I am not a kid anymore. Call me Mimi one more time and I....I... I will....." she was trying to complete her sentence but failing miserably. I chuckled at her attempt to threaten and warn him. It was hard to control my laughter. She is so adorable.

"Hahahahaha." Ryan laughed out loud.

"You what? Mimi, You and I both know that you won't hurt a fly," he said in between his laughter.

"I... I... I will see you next time." she said fuming with anger. Her cheeks were flushed red making her look so cute.

"You just wait," she said and walked off. I kept looking at her retreating figure.

"She is feisty, right?" Ryan asked me as we got into the elevator.

"Indeed. She is a little firecracker." I said smiling to myself.

"Is that a smile I am seeing?" Oh shit, he saw.

"Ya, it felt good knowing that I am not the only one who you irritate so much." I lied.

"Oh. And there I thought you that fell for her. 'Love at first sight'." he said dreamily.

"What?" I yelled at him.

"Ok, admit that you did find her attractive," he spoke up.

"You have no idea," I muttered to myself while getting off the elevator.

She is an Angel.
