Diena's part in the job was simple. Follow one of Rollins's most trusted men and see where he went, recording his moves and report back. He was sending a snake to follow a lion with nothing but her wit and tongue to protect her. Yet before she could go she was summoned to the roof
Diena opened the door to the roof and saw Kaz standing there, overlooking the city, "Not planning another explosion, are you?"
Kaz didn't say anything so Diena walked over to him and sat on the edge of the roof where he was standing, "Why am I here, bastard?"
"Your Snakes." Kaz simply said and Diena took a deep breath, "They didn't deserve what happened to them."
Diena shook her head, "No they didn't. Is that why you called me up here? To tell me my people didn't deserve to get murdered? I was already well aware of that."
"You didn't tell me you had Grisha in your crew."
Diena chuckled, "I didn't have to."
"You didn't think I would like to know that people I'm allied with were Grisha?" Kaz asked
Diena stood up, "I owe you my life, I do. I like to think we're friends...as much as I am furious and sad. I can't be angry forever it'll destroy me, So when you want something other than revenge, when you find a reason to live that isn't destroying Rollins, I'll be around. And I'll listen, I'll help. Because I owe you, and you owe me. But I don't want you to talk to me because you owe me, I want you to talk to me because we're friends...a friend once told me 'Everyone mourns the first blossom. Who will weep for the rest that fall?' I don't want to loose anymore people to this war, Kaz."
Kaz looked at her, "That's a Shu Poem."
Diena nodded, "I know."
Once making her way down from the roof, Diena was following one of the Dime Lions around the street, every time he turned around she would turn around as well making it seem like she was doing something.
She was well aware that someone was going to recognise her. If she hadn't have been noticed then she would have been surprised. After all what better way to get what she wanted than from people thinking she was vulnerable. Even if it meant getting slightly beaten up, at least they hadn't done anything close to what the Heartrender in Ravka had.
