Meanwhile, on the roof...
"Hey, hey, hey!"
Pin turned around and cracked a small grin as Coiny walked up to her, pointing finger guns at her and chuckling. She shook her head with a giggle of her own as he stood beside her, and they both gazed out upon the snow-covered forested landscape as the summit of Yoyle Mountain towered behind it.
Coiny let out an impressed whistle and placed one hand on his hip. "Dang, that's beautiful," he muttered loud enough for Pin to hear as he nodded. Pin glanced beside her to find Coiny still studying the landscape, but she arched an eyebrow when he looked back at her with a mischievous gleam in his eyes. He lightly nudged her arm with his and grinned. "And, hey...the mountain view isn't so bad, either."
"Oh, shut up!"
Pin lightly shoved Coiny away as the two of them shared a laugh. They looked at each other for a few more moments before eventually turning their gazes back to the landscape. As they stood, Pin gently closed her eyes and took a deep breath of the crisp near-mountain air before slowly letting it out. "You know," she grinned, "a roof is a lot more pleasant when you're not bleeding out on top of it."
"Ah...I bet," Coiny murmured with a mild shake of his head as he let out a mirthless smirk. "There's something cursed about our school's roof, I tell you. You heard about Fanny a few months ago, right?"
Pin winced and hissed as she reluctantly nodded. "Yeesh. That...wow. I mean, at least someone else was trying to kill me."
"How's she doing, by the way?" Coiny asked with a frown. "You probably spend more time with her than I do. I mean, I know she acts fine, but...well, you know Fanny."
"Yeah," Pin sighed. "I think she actually is doing better, though. She seems enthusiastic enough about the competition tonight, and she's being more social and making friends, like Bubble and us in the literature club."
"That's good," Coiny nodded. "So, uh...what else is new?"
Pin crossed her arms and hung her head back in thought as she hummed. "Uh...well, my house hasn't been burned down for a few months. Personal record, maybe?"
"Aw, man," Coiny laughed jokingly as he snapped his fingers and shook his head. "We gotta fix that when we get back."
They shared another light chuckle for a bit before Coiny suddenly spoke up. "Hey, uh, speaking of the literature club—have you started on that, uh...short story or whatever?"
"Oh, the—like, uh...dialogue practice? Or was it...description?" Pin scratched her head and tilted it to the side in confusion. "I-I don't know, I don't think I was paying too much attention when Needle gave it out."
"Yeah, she said we needed to, like, write some story about two characters from some fictional piece of media," Coiny explained with a frown. "Specifically, that we needed to 'continue their story,' I think. Said it'll help with immersion in future literature or something."
"'Continue their story'...huh. Crud, alright. Have you started?"
"Ah—I'm trying to, but it...I don't know. Like—okay, so there's this, like, really popular, uh, web show online that has, like, a bunch of mini-sub-plots, and I'm thinking of making my story about one of the ships. Or—a lot of them, actually; my story's going to be more like a bunch of little stories compacted together."
"Oh, like a one-shot collection? You sure?"
"Yeah, because I like the franchise, but...I mean, like...I don't know. Like, I'm trying to write about the popular ships, because I think people will want to read them more over just generic action stories, or sequels, or whatever—if we even get that far, that is—but it's just...difficult."
