"Push," the pack doctor instructed. "You have to push Luna."

"I can't," I shake my head. The pain of labor was greater than I could have ever imagined. Everything in my body ached and the familiar pressure to shift was overwhelming. But I wouldn't. I couldn't for the sake of my baby, and the promise I made to Damian.

Who is no where to be found. Donna went searching for him a little over an hour ago but just came back empty handed.

"I am so sorry," Donna took my hand to give me some shred of comfort.

"Where is he?" I didn't understand. Damian hadn't exactly been thrilled with the idea of a baby, but he wouldn't leave me to give birth alone. Right?

He would have known I was in labor because he would have felt the pain through our bond. Shouldn't he be rushing back to be with me?

Or what I wrong? Did I believe Damian wanted this because I wanted it so bad? Was I forcing the idea of a child on him? Did he actually not want this child?

"Luna, please. You must calm down. You need to clear your mind and push," the doctor tried to soothe my worries.

"I can't," I shake my head. I didn't have enough energy to push again. I have been in labor for nearly ten hours. I was exhausted.

"You have to," the doctor grabbed my arm. "You need to start pushing."

"I can't," I shake my head.

"Yes, you can," Donna grabbed my shoulders hard enough to get my full attention. "You are the strongest person I know. You have to."

"Where is Damian," I shake my head, tears streaming down my face.

"I am here," Damian burst through the door, looking bloodied and mud caked his whole body. "I am sorry, but I am here now," he came over and took my hand.

"Where were you?" I asked, looking him over.

"I went on a mission late last night. It wasn't supposed to be a long one, so I didn't tell you," he pressed his forehead to mine. "I am so sorry."

"Why are you covered in blood and dirt?" Donna asked, pushing him away from me so it didn't get on me.

Damian growled and pushed past Donna to once again hold my hand. "I didn't have time to clean up."

"You reek of death," Donna crossed her arms. "It's not good for Rachel or the baby."

"Five minutes," he promised me. "I will wash and be right back in five minutes."

He rushed out of the room just as he came, and I glared at Donna for making my mate leave. Another wave of pain washed over me and I quickly forgot about all of it.

"Luna," the doctor urges once more.

"I have to wait for Damian," I insisted.

"The baby can not wait any longer," the doctor stood and positioned himself. "Forgive me, Luna."

"No," I try to move away, but the felt the needle in my arm before I could realize a nurse was beside me.

Then my whole world went black.
