• Malleus loves receiving affection. Or that you're spending your time with him. Even as friends, he treasures every bit of appreciation you openly express towards him. He's never had anything like that (Sebek aside). He has people who are dear to him, yes, and he's starting to bond a little more with other people but there was never anyone who went out of their way just to make him smile. To show him he was loved and cared for regardless of his status and power. Who wouldn't mind him just coming over to spend time with them and always seemed happy to see him. You already got a special place in his heart just from inviting him to something and joining him on a nightly walk, letting him ramble about gargoyles and actually listening to what he has to say. He'll be so happy if you respond by asking him more questions. When you fell for Malleus you fell hard. And fast. How could you not, seeing how his eyes lit up when you suggested to spend time together, how he smiled when you showed him you appreciated him. How passionate he was about the things that interested him and how gentle and caring he seemed to be despite his amount of power and the years he spent alone in a castle. He could have become bitter and hateful, yet he met the world with curiosity and hope. You couldn't help but want him to see how special he was to you.

• It's not like Malleus didn't suspect you were in love with him. It took him a bit longer than it would have most, especially realizing that he felt that way for you, but he eventually caught on. It's just that the sheer possibility of being wrong resulted in him never bringing it up. He didn't want to scare you away or make you feel pressured into accepting his love, given that he was royalty and one of the most powerful mages out there. So he waited in silence for the day you would confirm you were as hopelessly in love with him as he was.

• What brought you closer together started with Malleus often mentioning that he didn't know what he was supposed to learn at Night Raven College, given that he might even know more than his teachers. But the more time you spent around him, the more you noticed how little he knew about the modern world. Or people. Which he eventually confirmed with mentioning that he had spent most of his life inside his castle, learning about the world from old books or the stories Lilia told him. So one day you told him to meet you in front of the mirror chamber at midnight. Whatever protection spells Crowley had placed on the Dark Mirror was nothing that could withstand Malleus' magic. So on the weekends you'd often meet late at night and you'd sneak Malleus out through the Dark Mirror to far off places. You'd explore malls on the other side of the world, you'd check out sights and museums. You visited cathedrals, parks and mountains. And all of a sudden Malleus realized he had so much to learn about the world. And right there by his side were you, ready to explain to him whatever confused him, to introduce him to human society and what it had created. Malleus had never done anything that could be considered rebellious, aside from teleporting away from his guards to spend some time alone. But curiosity got the better of him when you took him on a trip for the first time. And after that the temptation was just too strong to resist. Seeing the world with his own eyes like he had always wanted to and making countless of memories with a new friend... after a century of being lonely Malleus couldn't say no to the experiences you served to him on a silver platter.

• You'd never shy away from calling him a friend, complimenting him when you found something he did impressive and telling him you enjoyed your time together. But the more time you spent around him, the more you saw him react to new experiences the world had to offer, the more you noticed how breathtakingly beautiful he was in every possible way. So the more comfortable you became around him, the bolder you got. One day in alchemy class, you were learning how to transmute objects and shape them according to your will. Professor Crewel tasked the class with picking a material and shaping it into a different form. Of course your abilities couldn't hold up to what Malleus was capable of, but you managed to transmute a rose out of gold. Crewel complimented your work and so did Malleus as your desk neighbor. You smiled at him, handing the golden rose to him. "I made this for you", you said, being met with Malleus' surprised expression. He smiled and thanked you for this gift. Eyeing him from the side you could see that throughout the rest of the class, Malleus would often turn the rose in his hands with a soft smile on his face. He'd later put it in his room, making it part of his treasure.
