While still weak, you were well enough to be walking around now. For the past few days Hiccup had stayed with you, making sure you were handling being reintroduced to food well and healing up. He did leave every so often to fly Toothless, get those wings stretched and all. By now apparently the whole damn tribe knew of you, intrigued by the existence of a winged humanoid. And today you were going to facing all those curious eyes. Because Hiccup wanted you to get outside for a bit, see the sun and meet his group of buddies his father called 'the gang'.
The weather was much colder than you were used to back in Ectacos, your land being near Kemet and Roma meant it was much warmer. Quickly a little problem arose regarding that, clothes. Your home often wore Chitons and Togas, as they allowed for wing room and could be wrapped around the body easily to allow for your dragon features movement. But it was much too cold for such attire in Berk. Hiccup came up with an idea though, rather than linen you'd wrap yourself up in wool and he'd cut some holes in a cloak for your wings to wear over the top.
That was exactly what you needed, since wrapping up in a woollen version of a chiton and adding that cloaked layer, you were much much warmer and still able to fly. Well, when you were strong enough for flight again that is. Point is, your wings could move free, and your tail had room under the robes. Hiccup was quick to offer you armour fit for your body and had been designing and testing some mock ups the past few days too. If there was one thing you'd learn about him these past few days, it was the fact he was extremely creative and loved a hands on task.
When you stepped out into the sun again this morning, the sheer amount of dragons roaming around completely unbothered by the humans made you smile. Berk had truly become a sanctuary for dragons, it was great to see. Those dragons also just had to stop and sniff in your direction of course, your unusual smell of human-dragon catching their attention.
Hiccup showed you around, pointing out key locations like the great hall, markets, dragon stables and farms. The people seemed nice, although not many approached you as they could tell Hiccup was busy with you from his lengthy explanations on how each building had been adjusted to dragon friendliness.
It was in the training arena where you finally met the gang, all of them hard at work doing the very entertaining (heavy sarcasm) task of cleaning the place from head to toe. Their dragons seems to be unamused, busy playing with each other rather than helping their riders. The clang of the gates opening as Hiccup pushed them open caught the attention of the nearest person, a girl.
"Well look who finally decided to show up and help" the blonde girl clad in a big fur hood and battle skirt said, aimed at Hiccup.
"Hey I have a good excuse to be 'slacking off' thank you. (Y/n), this is Astrid, Astrid this is (y/n)" Hiccup replied.
She walked over, putting down the cleaning supplies for a moment to chat.
"Nice to meet you, don't worry I won't bombard you with dragon questions like Hiccup probably has. You are feeling ok through right?" Astrid asked.
"As ok as I can be right now. Nice to meet you too" you replied.
"That's good, Hiccup told me everything. Malnutrition is tricky to combat, I was kind of worried. If you're walking around that's a good sign though"
You feel alright, definitely still a bit sore and fatigued but rather optimistic about your recovery. You healed faster than a human would, thanks to the dragon side of you. You weren't about to try and fly for a little longer though, your wings still hurt.
"Oh and by the way, if you want some peace and quiet from all Hiccups dragon obsessed ramblings, come hang out with me. I actually know what peace and quiet is" Astrid teased.
