teach me ? - johnny cade

all day, I have been scribbling in my notebook, listening to music, and stressing out. I've been without johnny for a while now. he needed to get ready for his date, which was happening in about an hour.

soon, I hear footsteps coming towards my door. who was here? I grab my pillow for self defense. opening the door was...my mother. they're finally home???

"hello dear, sorry we've been away so long," she looks at me sadly, I can tell she genuinely felt bad. I slowly walk up to her and give her a hug.

"your father went out to the store, so you'll see him later. how have things been going while we were gone?" she asks curiously. I explain to her everything happening with johnny, and how I didn't know how to feel anymore.

"I'm sure you'll figure things out, when is his date??" she asks pointing to the clock on my wall. it's starting right now!!

"his date is starting right now, I guess I'll go over to the curtis house and hang there so I'm not as bored. thanks for the talk mom," I smile and slide my converse on, running out the door.

the walk, or run, to the curtis house wasn't very long. I immediately barge into their house without a thought in my mind. sitting there was ponyboy, reading some book that I haven't heard of. I smile and take a seat next to him on the couch.

"hey pony, can I talk to you for a second?" I ask a little bit nervous. he nods giving me all of his attention and placing his book in his lap. ponyboy is one of my close friends, I knew I could trust him with anything.

"I think..I think I'm in love with johnny," I confessed to pony, and to myself. he gives me a shocked but sympathetic look, I assume johnny had told him about his date today.

"oh y/n, I could see this coming for a long time. I see the way you look at him, but he gives you the same look back. I know he loves you too. trust me. it will just take him a while to realize it," he gives me a smile and pulls me into a strong and comforting hug.

we stay like that for a while, and pulling apart to talk for a bit while johnny is having his date. I wonder how it's going. I'm glad I came to pony, he knew how to cheer me up. we talked and talked and then he started reading the book he had to me. It was honestly pretty good. not surprised, pony has great taste.

soon after, someone slowly opens and closes the door. I look up to see johnny, he looks very tired. I get up and bring him to the couch where pony was still sitting.

"how did it go?" I ask with curiosity, I've been waiting for him to come back all day.

"can we go to the lot? I'll tell you all about it there," he says shyly. I nod my head and wave pony goodbye, dragging johnny to our usual meeting spot.

"cmonnn, tell me how it went!" I am very eager to hear all about his day. he explains to me that she brought a few friends, which kind of bothered him since it was supposed to be just them. but she asked him to be her boyfriend and he agreed, he still thought she was pretty and nice. what the hell is wrong with this girl bringing her friends..

"oh I'm sorry johnny, she shouldn't have done that. anything else happen?"

"well she kind of ditched me for her friends for a while..which was kind of embarrassing. but she did kiss me, and thanks to you, I knew what I was doing. that's about it," he states.

"you got yourself a girlfriend johnnycakes!! I'm so happy for you, I hope everything goes well," I pull him into a hug, taking in his scent. he was so warm, and I fit perfectly in his arms. I envy that girl, she will have it coming for her if she ever hurts MY johnny.

soon, I feel myself drifting off, being too comfortable by being in johnny's arms.

johnny lifts me up bridal style, realizing that I'm asleep. he carries me the best he can all the way to my house. he softly knocks on the door, seeing the beaten up car in the driveway. that meant my parents were home.

my mom opens the door to see who was outside. she realizes who it is immediately.

"you must be johnny, y/n has told me a lot about you. sorry about her falling asleep on you, come on in" she invites johnny in, he puts me on my bed and kisses my cheek, heading back to the living room where my mom was.

johnny blushes at what my mom said. he found it hard to believe that I would talk about him to my mother, but he was obviously wrong.

"sorry for intruding on you, I just didn't want y/n to get cold since we were at the lot, hope you have a great night," he says to my mom with a small smile, he was nervous to be alone with one of my family members.

"it's okay johnny, thanks for bringing her home. I appreciate it. I know she will too, thanks for taking care of my daughter so well. she loves you," she says, not realizing what came out of her mouth.

johnny's eyes widen at what my mother said. he gives her a wave, and leaves quickly. he heads over to the curtis house, knowing his parents were probably still fighting as always. he wanted to talk to pony anyways.

he walks tiredly to the door and flops onto the couch. he didn't even get to say a word to pony before he drifted off to sleep, tired from what the day held for him.
