"That's enough, give it back.." I say softly to nobody in particular, fighting the urge to cry. I grab my notebook from the water, seeing the burnt cover, the waterlogged pages dripping. "Dammit. Stupid jerk.."
The scorched cover really goes to show, I can never get any peace. Good thing I've memorized most of my notes, but... that's really not the point at all.
