Adelia could see him

Even through the blur of movement—families reuniting, baggage rolling by, a security guard stepping right between them—she could still see him.

Matt.

Tall and winded and flushed from running, wearing a worn-out hoodie (not hers) and that crooked smile that made her stomach flutter in that stupid, relentless way.

The moment the security guard moved aside, their eyes met again—clear this time.

No distractions.

And everything in her chest tightened like a knot pulling itself together.

He took a step forward. She took one too.

And then he was there.

Not just on her screen or behind a text bubble. Not half a country away. Not pixelated through FaceTime.

Here.

Real.

Matt reached her first. Didn't say a word. Just pulled her in.

His arms wrapped around her like they were made to, like he remembered exactly how she fit against him even after all that time apart. Her carry-on slipped off her shoulder, hitting the floor with a soft thud. Her face was buried in his hoodie before she even realized she was crying.

Not big, dramatic tears.

Just quiet, relieved ones.

"You're here," Matt murmured into her hair.

"I'm here," she whispered back.

They held onto each other like they were afraid of waking up. Like maybe this was still a dream. Like maybe if they let go too quickly, it would all disappear.

Behind them, Chris muttered, "Should we give them a minute, or...?"

"Give me a minute," Nick whispered, mock-wiping a tear from under his eye.

Adelia laughed against Matt's chest, pulling back just enough to look up at him. His eyes searched hers, thumb brushing beneath her cheek where a tear had fallen.

"You okay?" he asked softly.

"I am now."

"Good. 'Cause I was about five seconds from body-slamming that security guard."

She snorted. "Please don't get arrested on the first day I move here."

"No promises."

She glanced at the twins hovering behind him. "Hi, idiots."
