That saturday, Sunghoon invited her over to his dorm to watch a movie.
The boy promised Yoojin he would buy popcorns and iced tea (perhaps not the best combo in the world, but there was no point in arguing with her), so she had no choice left but to agree. A break was more than needed. Her eyes were starting to burn from all the time they spent focused on the textbooks, yet no amount of eye drops could take away the pain.
The sun was no longer shining when her gaze finally fell on the window beside her bed. The lamppost reflected a feeble yellow light that barely even illuminated the empty street ahead. Everyone had either gone back home for the weekend, or took a cab to party in the city. There were some nice clubs, according to Sunghoon, but Yoojin wasn't affected the slightest by his stories. Loud sounds and drunk people were two of the things she avoided the most.
Checking the time and almost falling off the chair, Yoojin decided to take a quick shower. She wasn't late per se, but she couldn't stand being late. Whether it was an important event or a simple hangout with her brother, she would get there on time. She gathered her hair in a low pony tail, put on a sweatshirt and a pair of sweatpants, then finally wore her glasses.
The darkness and the empty street embraced the girl during the entire walk to Sunghoon's dorm. It was rather uncomfortable, not to count that every noise would freeze the blood in her veins and cause her to jump. Perhaps because she was afraid of everything under the sun, or because she had read too many thrillers and feared someone was waiting around the corner to jump on her. The thing is, she felt unsafe. She'd ask Sunghoon to walk with her later, or better, let her sleep in his room.
"There you are!" Yoojin wasn't surprised when the door opened revealing Sunoo's lean figure. Sunghoon never mentioned their presence, but Yoojin was always two steps ahead of him. Or at least, she was re-learning how to be. In the back of her head, she knew his friends would tag along. The thought didn't upset the slightest, not after the little encounter with Jay. If Sunghoon wanted her to be part of the group, she wouldn't comply. More than anything, she trusted Sunghoon not to introduce bad influences in her life.
Except for Jungwon, but he was an entirely different story.
Sunghoon's room was quite spacious unlike hers. There were a twin sized bed, a decently sized closet and even a sofa for two people. Their parents had been saving up since the day of their births to assure them luxury they never had. Opportunities like these don't come often when your parents work 9-5 jobs and barely have time to catch a breath, they'd always say.
Heeseung, Jay and Sunoo were sprawled on the floor while Sunghoon sat on his bed, eyebrows furrowed at his phone. Jungwon was there too, much to Yoojin's dismay, occupying the entire sofa and not even caring to take off his shoes. Disgusting.
Of course Yoojin had to let him know.
"Coach made me run thirty laps just so I could come here earlier. Just... let me take a breath. Don't piss me off, nerd."
