Onigiri

It was time for the Inter High. You've been here before, last year while you were a first year in high school.

Now that you were in your second year, this felt even more exciting. And a thought crossed your mind.

What if Osamu was also here?

You found out that at the tournaments you were at with Itachiyama, Osamu and his team at Inarizaki were also there. Yet, you two never saw each other, nor were either of you aware of the other's presence until it was too late.

The only reason you had known he had been there was because he called you afterward, when he was back at home.

And the two of you were saddened that neither of you had been able to see each other. You both missed the other.

You hoped you'd see him here.

And, luckily for you, he sent a text.

<Osamu: hey y/n>

<You: hey, Samu >

<Osamu: my team's at the inter-high >

<You: so is mine>

<Osamu: let's try to meet in our free time, then>

<You: I'd love to>

You smiled, hope fluttering in your chest. You were happy that you'd finally get the chance to see your best friend in person once again.

After a year apart, you grew to really miss him. And he missed you more than anything.

Yet, you were still unaware of his feelings for you. And those feelings of his had the time to grow stronger.

When he says he misses you, his heart aches at the thought of not having you around him all the time.

And now, there was a chance he'd get to see you again. He was thrilled. And more importantly, his heart was constantly beating at a fast pace.

You looked around the area, not being able to see your friend.

Sakusa noticed you looking around. "What are you looking for?"

"My best friend from home is here. I'm tryna see if I can find him."

"I see. Well, you're not needed right now. You can go around and search for him if you'd like."

You smile at him. "Thanks, I'll see you later."

You ran off, searching for Osamu. Your eyes scanned the entire area you ran in, yet your best friend didn't come into sight.

As you were beginning to lose hope that you'd see your friend, a very familiar voice called out to you.

"Y/n?"

You turned and saw that familiar face. Your heart dropped. "Atsumu."

He walked over to you, leaving very little space in between you two. "What are ya doing here?"

You tense, trying not to back away from him. "I'm here with my team."

"Ya play volleyball now?"

"No. I'm the manager for the team at my school."

"Which school?"

"Itachiyama. Why?"

He shrugged. "Was just curious. I haven't seen ya in over a year. Didn't know what school ya went to. How ya been?"

You blink, confusion settling into your mind. "Good. How about you?"

"Not terrible. Adjusting to the team was difficult. And Samu and I have been fighting constantly since starting high school. Haven't heard him mention ya much, not unless ma starts talking bout ya first."

"I see."

He continued to look down at you. "You've gotten taller. Ya look like you've matured a bit more than how ya were last time we saw each other. Yer prettier now."

"Thanks."

He takes another small step closer to you. "Im... sorry fer how I treated ya all those years. I'm the reason ya up and left home, right?"

"You were. But now I'm quite happy and enjoy living in Tokyo."

"That's good. I'm glad yer happy. And... I really am sorry fer how I treated ya."

You look up at him, those horrible memories flashing through your head. "Are you really sorry?"

"I am. I feel bad fer what I did. Ma and Samu have been completely upset since ya left. I regretted how I treated ya, seeing them like that."

"I felt bad about leaving them, but they supported me and just wanted my happiness."

"I'm sorry fer everything. I got jealous cuz ya were being friends with Samu. And I treated ya horribly. Can ya forgive me?" He looked at you with pleading eyes.

"I don't know. Definitely not right now, but I might be able to forgive you with time."

He sighed. "I understand. So, why aren't ya with yer team right now?"

"I was looking for Samu. I wanted to say hi before things got too busy for us."

Atsumu nodded. "I know where he is. I'll take ya there."

"You will?"

"Of course. Samu misses ya. Follow me, I'll take ya to him." He begins walking away.

You decide to follow him, trusting that he really will take you to where Osamu currently is.

"He's just over there." Atsumu points.

You look in the direction he's pointing. And sure enough, you saw the person you'd been searching for.
