After getting dressed Nawab and Uruvi headed downstairs to the dining table to have breakfast together for the first time.
Normally, by the time Uruvi would get up in the morning, Nawab would have already finished his rounds and was most likely practicing in the courtyard with the rest of his men.
"Wife?" Nawab said suddenly making Uruvi snap out of her thoughts.
Uruvi gazed at him, puzzled.
"I was waiting for you to sit down, but you weren't responding..."
She looked down and saw that Nawab had pulled out a chair for her and was waiting for her to take her seat.
Uruvi moved around the chair before sitting down. "Thank you, husband."
Nawab pushed into Uruvi's chair before sitting on his. He was about to say something when Sakshi, Surili, and a few other maids came out, giggling with their breakfast plates in hand.
Uruvi looked up and locked eyes with Surili, who had been staring at her. Uruvi raised a brow, only for Surili to respond with a smirk and a wink.
She couldn't help but blush as she fully understood what Surili was suggesting.
The maids soon left after setting the table, leaving Surili and Sakshi with Nawab and Uruvi.
"Come sit with us Aunt Sakhshi and Surili, we can all have breakfast together." Uruvi suggested.
Uruvi poked Nawab's arm, expecting him to say something, only to receive his usual grunt in response.
"Oh, thank you Uruvi but we've already had our breakfast, hours ago in fact after this we will go help finish preparing lunch!" Sakshi replied with a grin before continuing. "I was waiting for you to come down this morning, but Surili told me not to because you and Nawab were making l... taking a bath..."
Uruvi's eyes widened just as her spoon dropped onto her plate.
Nawab, who was doing his best to ignore the conversation, couldn't help but cough, nearly choking on his food.
Surili couldn't help but giggle at Sakshi's comment. When Nawab had said he would help Uruvi bathe earlier that day, she couldn't stop her wild thoughts and had to tell Sakshi about it.
"So how was the... I mean bath Uruvi?" Surili chirped in.
Uruvi glared at Surili making note of how she would yell at Surili for teasing her so much.
Both Sakshi and Surili giggled before quickly leaving them alone so they could finish their food.
This was not how Uruvi thought having breakfast with her husband for the first time would be.
She didn't think it would be anything romantic or that they would feed each other, but the uneasiness was something she wasn't expecting either.
Uruvi felt her eyes tingle but then she suddenly saw Nawab's hand in front of her face.
She looked at the spoon in his hand and then at his face.
"Eat wife." Nawab murmured gently, signalling to his spoon.
That's when Uruvi smiled—her husband was feeding her!
This was something she had wanted since she was a little girl and watched her father and mother feed each other.
She couldn't stop smiling as she attentively savoured her food.
Tanuj was right, Nawab thought to himself.
It didn't take much to make his wife happy; all he had to do was give his attention to her, and the woman was delighted by even the simplest gesture.
Nawab's thoughts were interrupted when he noticed Uruvi holding a spoonful of food in front of his face.
Uruvi felt at peace that this being a part of their day was something she could get used to. Even though they weren't talking, there was a blissful feeling in the silence too.
There was something about spending time with her husband that made her heart sing and her face glow.
As they continued to finish their meal by feeding each other, Nawab reminisced on how pleasant this moment with his wife had been and how he wished it would occur a lot more often.
It felt like things were finally going to be easier compared to what they had been, or was this just the calm before the storm?
