"Valerie, you have another mission," Maximor declared as you entered the room. After you got your dinner, Maximor ask you personally to come talk. And by personal that means it's a solo mission for you. The ambiance was punctuated by the soft hum of machinery and the faint glow of dimmed lights. Maximor, seated in his swivel chair, tossed a paper onto the sleek, metallic table.
The image revealed a middle-aged man exuding a dark aura; his squinted eyes hinted at a cynical nature, while a stylized mauve haircut and a full white designer stubble beard added an enigmatic touch.
You studied the picture for a moment before turning your gaze back to Maximor. "Who's the old man?" you inquired, your voice cutting through the quiet room.
"Charles Choi," Maximor replied, his hands clasped together, forearms resting on the desk, chin supported by his fist. "Not your typical old man."
"And what's his story?"
"That's your mission," he pointed out, a subtle smile playing on his lips. The room's lighting cast shadows across his face, emphasizing the gravity of the task.
"You want me to find out who this man is?"
"Exactly," he affirmed, his gaze unwavering. With a deliberate motion, he placed another picture on the table, revealing a man with black eyes and white irises. "Remember him?"
Those eyes...
"...White Ghost?" you spoke, a shiver running down your spine as memories of an unsettling incident from a few years ago flooded back.
"One of the ten geniuses under Charles Choi is Park Jong Gun," Maximor stated, his tone carrying a weight of urgency. "Valerie, I need you to investigate everything about the old man Charles Choi - the ten geniuses, the four major crew members under Park Jong Gun, the Worker Union, everything..."
Confusion flickered in your eyes as you blinked, staring at Maximor. Investigative missions were typically handled by Froilan, not you. You were more accustomed to combat missions, and the shift in roles caught you off guard. However, questioning Maximor's decisions wasn't something you dared to do; he had reasons for his choices.
"When do I start the investigation?" you inquired, seeking clarity.
"As soon as possible," he replied."I'll have Caden arrange everything for you. He's currently creating a persona to aid your investigation. I have an appointment tomorrow along with Froilan, so I'll be off that day. I want to discuss this case with you in person; it's an important one."
The room's atmosphere seemed charged with a sense of significance as Maximor laid out the details of your new assignment.
You heard him mention an appointment, realizing it likely involves dealing with someone significant, given Maximor and Froilan's involvement.
