Ash came back a few minutes later. Fresh blood stained his side, but he still seemed as calm and casual as ever.

"Something happened." He said. "I can tell by your face."

"Something's happened to you, I can tell by your fucking hoodie!"

"Did you not hear my previous explanation of this game?" Ash rolled his eyes. "A lot of blood is lost here, that's how it works. Now what's got your cock in a twist?"

"My girlfriend's here."

"Oh."

They were silent for a brief moment, unsure of what to say, but Will remembered Luke asking about Ash earlier.

"Someone named Luke is looking for you."

"Of course he is." Ash sighed.

"So you guys don't get on?"

"You could say that."

They went quiet again. Will opened his mouth to say something, then suddenly heard shouting from across the room getting closer and he looked up. Bat and Raven were running at full speed across the room, an angry looking man following close behind them.

"I swear to god, Bat!" He shouted. "Give me back my lighter, you asshole!"

"I told you, I need it for my task!" Bat shouted angrily.

"God damn it." Ash face-palmed.

"Those two seem like they probably get into trouble a lot." Will commented.

"They're normally really quiet, neither of them like people very much, but..yeah, when they actually do socialize, they tend to get into trouble."

The two silently watched the chase until someone stopped the man, telling him to let it go and that they'd get him another lighter. Bat held their newly earned lighter in the air, victorious, and then they and Raven left the room, presumably to do their tasks.

"Those kids give off weird vibes to me." Said Will, shaking his head a bit. "I don't know what it is about them, they just freak me out a bit."

Ash scoffed and glanced back at him. "You're right to be scared of anyone here. We're all freaks, and you probably will be too after playing for a bit. No completely sane person lasts more than a few days here."

Will wondered how long he'd last if that were the case. He'd like to think he was a pretty reasonable and sane person, but it seemed that wouldn't exactly favour him here.

"D'you plan on sitting here all day?" Asked Ash, glancing back at him.

"What else am I meant to do?"

"I don't know." Ash shrugged. "You're always welcome to talk to people to either befriend them and form an alliance which one of you is likely to betray later, or figure out their weaknesses and every way you can hurt them and what you should use against them in case you ever need to fight so that you'll have the upper hand and will be able to just kill them so much more easily."

They blinked at each other for an awkward moment.

"Is that what you're doing with me?!" Asked Will.

"No, I actually find you to be extremely unentertaining and a bit threatening , but I've been given no choice but to babysit you, so I'm-"

Will hit him, not too hard, but hard enough to surprise him. "Shut the fuck up, I'm getting so sick of hearing you talk."

"Okay."

The silence that followed was unexpected and almost disappointing.

"Sorry." Mumbled Will, after they'd paused shortly. "I shouldn't have hit-"
