"This is it?" Xavier said looking at Anya in confusion.
"His tracker says he's here," She said double checking the device.
It was a wide two story building that I could tell was abandoned. Plants had began growing up the walls, the paint was falling off and the structure of the outside what destroyed. We got out the car and the building looked worse up close.
The double doors looked like they use to be locked, but the chain was cut and loosely hanged on the door handles. Royce looked at us before he pulled the chain off and placed it on the floor. He opened the door trying to be quiet but he winced as it creaked loudly. We all stepped into a wide room that didn't look any better than the outside.
"Anya?," Royce looked at her not knowing which way to go.
"It shows that he's near the back to the right... It's not very specific though."
"It narrows down where too look, that good," he reassured her.
We began to make our way through the buildings long hallways. I look into the rooms that had it's door removed seeing all the things left behind. Some of these rooms remind me of the testing rooms in our old lab. I wonder if this place use to be lab of some sort, but the outside of it made me think otherwise.
"There's no one here.. do you think they would just leave him by himself," I say confused.
Royce shared my look, "it doesn't make sense, why go through the trouble of taking him, just to leave him here."
"Do you think it's a trap," Xavier stopped walking.
"If it is, why here and not their lab. Dr. Harvey's notes said his tracker was at their lab, meaning he was there and that's why they didn't know how to get him... so why move him?" Anya was trying to think.
"All I know if somethings wrong.. if he was okay he would've just walked out of here." Royce concluded, "we'll figure it out when we find him, just be aware of your surroundings."
We continued walking and we made it to the general location Jett's tracker said he was at. Anya spoke up, "Royce he could be upstairs."
He thought for a second before turning to us, "Me and Anya are going to look down here, you guys check upstairs. If you find anything just call us, we'll do the same."
Me, Xavier, and Helena made our way around the corner to the end of the hall to the stair case.
"That wood does not look stable," Helena pointed out.
She was right so I went first to test it out, and despite the loud creaking from the flimsy wood, I decided it was good enough, "we'll be okay."
"Should we split up to cover more ground?" Xavier said.
We looked at Helena to see if she was okay with that and when she nodded we made our way down different directions promising not to go too far from each other.
I went into one of the rooms looking at the paint falling off the walls. It was empty but I saw another door at the other end. I reached for the doorknob to open the door but the handle was rusted in place. I tried pushing the door open and it eventually worked.
It was small. There was a desk made of rotting wood, the vines outside had already reached the corners of the window, and lastly there was a metal bed frame with it's mattress missing
I walked to the window looking out, there was nothing for miles, this place was in it's own world.
I began to make my way out so I could check somewhere else when I heard a piercing scream. I ran out of the room seeing Xavier pop out of a room not far in front of me. "HELENA," he called out. Both of us knowing it came from her.
"XAVIER," she screeched calling out for him.
He almost past the room she was in but used her voice to find her with me right behind him.
She was on the ground trying to hold off her attacker. Xavier tackled him off of her, slamming the guy to the ground.
"Xavier it's Jett," I ran beside him to help hold Jett down despite my disbelief.
"What's wrong with him," Xavier said.
Royce and Anya ran into the room seeing Jett who looked terrible and was still thrashing around to get free.
"Jett," Royce tried getting his attention but it was no use. "JETT," he yelled in his face but Jett still thrashed around.
Anya helped Helena up, comforting the girl.
"It's like he doesn't recognize us, I found him clawing the door," Helena said.
Royce turned to them, "are you okay?"
"I'll be fine, what's wrong with him"
"I don't know but can you guys try and find anything we can use to tie him up."
I couldn't see them but I heard them walk away after Royce's words.
Not long after Jett stopped moving. I shared a confused look with the others, my grip on him loosening.
Me and Xavier turned our attention to Royce but before we could say anything Jett was up again this time tackling Xavier, catching him by surprise.
Royce grabbed Jett wrapping his arm around his neck. Jett began clawing at his arm. His movements then became slower and Royce gently moved to lay him on the ground.
"What the hell just happened?" I asked flabbergasted after a moment of silence.
"Is he dead?," Xavier asked at the same time.
"He's not dead, just passed out," Royce checked Jett's pulse just to make sure, "but I don't know what's wrong with him.""I think I have an idea..." Xavier said looking over at Jett.
