matthew sturniolo had spent the entire summer teaching mariana polibio how to drive. when the time comes, and she gets her drivers license, she finds herself driving alone past his street.
for the past 2 weeks, ari refused to talk to anyone other than mattia.
mattia has offered to go down to matt's house and beat the shit out of him, but ari talked him out of it.
she sat in silence with mattia for the majority of the 2 weeks. she just needed to see that she had someone.
her best friend, leah, had been in summer camp for the entirety of summer, and she only had her phone available for a few hours each day for some stupid reason. ari never understood summer camps, but that's besides the point. usually, leah and ari spend the entire 3 hours leah was allowed to use her phone calling or texting.
so when ari didn't pick up any of leah's calls, or her texts, leah got worried. she eventually thought of texting mattia, but mattia didn't really go into detail since he didn't think it was his place to. all he told her was that matt was an asshole and a terrible person, which only scared leah more.
as soon as leah reentered boston, she went straight to the polibio's. she threw her suitcase near the entrance, briefly said hi to their parents, and went upstairs to ari's room.
"what the fuck happened!" she yelled, looking at ari's disheveled state.
"matt cheated on me."
"oh, ana." leah walked up to her and gave her a huge hug.
usually, ari would pinch leah for calling her ana. everyone used to call her that when she a was a child, but she just outgrew it. she kinda hates it now, but for the sake of leah, she wouldn't admit it.
"it's whatever, though."
"totally not whatever-" leah stopped speaking, because she noticed mattia's livid face.
"what's wrong with your face?" leah asked.
"what's wrong with yours?" matti rolled his eyes, not taking his eyes off of his phone.
"calm the fuck down." leah rolled her eyes back at him.
"why do you look like you're about to kill someone?" ari asked, peaking at his phone screen. "oh."
"yeah." he nodded.
"okay, wow." leah blinked. "show me?"
