You wake up in your room in Mystacor, sunlight softly hugging the features of your face as it enters through the small circular window beside your bed.
For quite a while, you have been laying off on performing any magic. It might've been a week or so. Spells leave you exhausted and deplete your energy. Yet, today, you have to continue practicing.Heading down the hall, Castaspella greets you, rather surprised at the fact that you got out of your room after a week of avoiding any practice. She was the one to recommend it, seeing you always worked and practiced till your bones softened and your hands mended into the shape of the spell. Seeing how rigorously you were treating yourself, and how often it would end in fatigue, she decided to let you lay low for quite a while.
As you greet her back, she asks if you are okay, how well your rest has been, basically small talk and questions noone bothers to answer honestly.
"So, does that mean I can go back to practice?" You put forward a question.
You missed overworking yourself, you really did. I'd anyone valued time, it was you. Sometimes, you felt it drain away, other times you felt it slowly watching you in the shape of an hourglass, or a strange clock, ticking so slow, somehow as to mock you, look down on you.
So, you put it all to great use. When you weren't working, you felt it running away, never to return.Breaking your trail of thought, she replied, "Well, I'm sure you must be dieing to. But it won't kill you to have breakfast first, will it? Don't overdo it, (name). It's not good for you, I say it with the best of intentions."
Nodding at the advice, you say "I have already had breakfast, don't worry too much, Castaspella. I can handle it. Eat well. "
As you make your way further down the hall, you see Shadow weaver, roaming the place, the eyes on her mask slightly tilting at the people around.
To say you had heard things about her was under-exaggerating. Tales of how she was the true evil in the body of a mortal- the greatest of the spell casters turned power-hungry beast.
Yet, you've seen many others you've heard things about here, so it was quite a normal sight.
As you made your way to the magic-room, trying to perfect your spells, you notice there is a window in the room, looking down on some garden.
In the garden, you see Shadow weaver, watering some daisies. She performed some spell that made them grow. You shake in excitement at her magical abilities, barely holding in your loud breath.
You wanted to watch more of her, study how she does things.
You had the perfect idea, amongst all the things your mind threw at you.
You went to Castaspellas quarters, and asked if Shadow Weaver could teach you magic.
"She's quite deadly, what inspired you to ask such a thing of me, (name)? "
"Well, she has the skill to help me perfect my magic and-"
You were cut off by a huge exhale from Castaspella.
"She's dangerous. You know what she did to my brother,, he was a mere child. She twisted him, got him involved in dark magic, a child"
She said the last part as almost a whisper.
You apologized, quite weird of you considering you were just about to head to the garden and ask for her help anyway.
Halting down, you entered the garden and found she had gone, disappeared from the corner of your eyes.
Gazing at the plants , the flowers, you closely took a look at the daisies, the roses.
When you went to touch the rose, it pricked you, small yet sharply.
As your finger started bleeding, you panicked and pulled it away, only to hear a voice behind you.
"What have you done?" The voice said mystically. It was shadow weaver.
Turning around, you hurriedly looked at her.
"I'm sorry, I was just taking at look at your lovely garden here. Takes long to grow roses like these, they've grown up all lovely, though maybe cut the pricks from time to time."
She stared at you, then said :
"Well, that's how roses are. They attract you, prey on you, yet when you dare touch them , they bite at you, pricking at your fragility"
She took you hands in hers, looking at your fingers.
"These fingers are lovely and strong, you must take better care, shant you?"
"That's (name) for you" you said.
"Well, (name), what are you doing around Mystacor? Perhaps learning magic? Only thing a youngun has going around here. "
"Student, yes. I came here wondering if you'd tutor me, I'm trying to perfect some spells."
Tying a knot from an old cloth around your delicate finger, she looks in your eyes.
"Child, that's okay. But I don't teach just anyone, I teach only the best"
"Really?" You eye at shadow weaver, "I'm sure there must be something impressive about me you must sought to teach"
"Prove it. "
"Just tell me how."
She fixed up your finger, and crushed a few flowers around the garden.
"These are required to perform a instant growth spell, if it works, the seeds I've planted will turn into small plants in a matter of seconds"
You wonder if you could do it. "I've always loved things that take less time. Time is of the utmost value to me. So, mote it be. "
You stand in front of her, drawing out the spell.
She is shocked at your quick thinking and skills. Soon, she senses a great power of magic in you, daring and strong.
She takes your hand in hers from behind you, one hand around the bottom part of your chest where her fingers outline your ribs as she helps you draw out the spell.
"I see a great future in you, (name). I sense the power you hold. "
Carefully drawing out the spell, borderline blushing, you say " done"
The plant grows into a small plant, two small leaves coming out the ground.
"You did such a good job for me, (name). "
Shadow weaver stares at the new life that grew out of the ground.
"i didn't expect to see such talents from someone I just met. "
She thinks to herself how you might even excite her more than Micah.
Returning to your room that day, you thought how bad it could be if you developed a crush on your secret teacher, but that's a problem for the day. Nothing can disturb the time of your precious sleep.
Laying in bed, you slowly fall asleep with the thought of your mysterious new tutor on you mind, as I'm sure she had you on hers.
