"Okay, but even if we get to the crash site...how are we supposed to change what is literally written in stone?", asked Manny.
"Ah, my cynical friend.", spoke Buck, "The dinos were wiped off the face of the Earth, but some escaped. They changed their fate and we can change ours, too. Who's with me!?"
We all looked at each other and formed a circle. My kids also participating.
"So, what do you think?", asked Manny.
"Honestly,", spoke up Ellie, "I'm worried the weasel's right."
Suddenly, a high-pitched voice spoke up.
"No! Don't listen to the weasel. He's a raving loon!"
We all looked at Buck really confused. He was wearing a hat (no idea where he got it from) and some vines around his neck.
Buck laughed, "Sorry. I just love playing devil's advocate. And looking fabulous!"
Buck walked away, swaying his hips.
"Well, Buck has saved our lives before, right?", asked Diego.
I heard Nala sigh, "But what if he can't this time?"
I rubbed her head. Even though she is still a kid, she can be really smart.
"I don't know what to believe.", spoke up Peaches and hugged Julian, "But I'm afraid our lives will be over before they begin."
I looked at Diego and he looked at me. We were both worried for each other. But mostly for our kids. Manny turned away and walked up to Buck.
"Okay. I guess we're in.", said Manny.
Crash and Eddie jumped and saluted.
"Crash and Eddie reporting for duty."
Eddie chuckled, "Doody."
The possums ended up laughing.
"Excellent!", exclaimed Buck, "And dirty word-processed. Now, we better get on the road because the time till impact is roughly...2 days, 4 hours, 1 minute, and 16 seconds. 15 seconds, 14 seconds..."
"I think we get it.", snapped Slash.
"I think we're all gonna get it.", commented Manny.
Buck started walking away and we followed him. We walked through some steam. I bet we looked unreal. I looked down at my kids. And saw them, with serious faces.
"Whoo!", exclaimed Julian, "We look so cool. Whoa!"
Julian tripped over a rock. I and Manny chuckled. I heard coughing.
"What is this stuff?"
Granny shook a hamster and inhaled it. I rolled my eyes. After some time, we reached a forest. My kids had gotten tired and Manny suggested carrying them. Buck continued looking at the tablet as if it were a map. Then, he started sniffing the ground.
"What are you doing, Buck?", asked Crash.
"All rocks tell a tale.", stated Buck and licked a rock, "Where we've been and where we're heading."
I zoned out. I am really worried. Just when I thought that everything was perfect...I mean...I have kids...I have an amazing mate...Amazing friends...And I'm about to lose them all. I looked ahead at Diego and Slash, the kids with them. My thoughts were interrupted by Sid.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! You're going to let one tiny little...300-mile-wide asteroid ruin your plans?"
"How can we think about our future when we may not have one?", asked Peaches.
I sighed. Even in such situations, Sid always tries to brighten up the day. I noticed that Diego stopped. He started walking with me again once I reached him.
"How are you?", he asked.
I sighed, "Worried."
"Summer, we're gonna make it.", said Diego, "We're gonna make it and we'll be happy."
I looked at him with sad eyes and looked down.
"You'll see. We'll grow old. See our kids get married.", continued Diego before chuckling, "Maybe, even see Slash get lucky."
"Maybe?!"
I heard my kids laugh. I chuckled as well.
"You, Nala, Dexter, and Simba are the best that could ever happen to me."
Tears started welling up in my eyes.
I smiled at him, "I love you."
Diego smiled back, "I love you too."
We rubbed heads and purred. Diego was always there for me. We've got Roshan back to his parents. We've got through the flood. We've fought dinosaurs. We've fought pirates.
I don't know what I'd do without him.
