A small smile curved Leon's lips. "Why would it make me feel strange? She'll always be your wife. You're allowed to mourn her. I've always known that you'll always love her."
"Besides, I needed a bit of fresh air. And, Ilse was my friend too, you know."
Luca glanced at Leon, his shoulders finally beginning to relax.
"You know," Luca breathed a soft sigh, "I almost told (Y/N) this morning."
Leon raised an eyebrow.
"About us," he mumbled. "Well... more like I almost introduced the possibility of me having a new lover..."
"But..."
Luca's eyes fell upon his daughter again. She was giggling, as if her mother and her were sharing a hearty conversation.
"I really can't tell how she would feel about it. I got scared, and decided against it. I really wish I could tell her... It's weighing so much on my mind."
With a shake of his head, Leon folded his arms. "Nothing'll change between us if you decide to tell her or not. You know that (Y/N)'s very understanding, just like you raised her to be. I'm sure there'll be a right time to tell her, when she'll be willing to understand."
At that, Luca hummed. Lucien had returned.
Her eyes were puffy and red, but, despite that, she carried a small bag in her hands that had clearly been untied, and had a gentle beam spread across her face.
Lucien rushed up to Luca, still sniffling.
"I got sweets..!" she exclaimed. She turned. "Oh, (Y/N)'s still..."
Luca simply smiled, ruffling his sister's soft hair. "Are you feeling better?" he asked quietly. "Looks like you ate one or two of those sweets already, didn't you? Hehe."
A bittersweet giggle escaped Lucien as she nodded just slightly. "The sweets cheered me up a little... Have some."
Luca picked out one of the hard-boiled sweets, as did Leon when Lucien ushered it towards him.
"I want to give the rest to (Y/N) but... she still seems quite busy..."
"It's okay," Luca whispered. "Just sit next to her and offer them. She loves those sweets."
"Okay..."
Lucien did exactly that.
(Y/N) finished her conversation with her mother, before glancing at her auntie.
"I got you some sweets. You can give some to your mother too, if you want," Lucien spoke with a gentle smile.
"Oh... thank you." (Y/N) took the bag gratefully as Lucien handed it to her. Carefully, she pulled one of the red ones out, placing it upon the damp grass before her mother's grave. "Auntie got sweets for me. Here, strawberry, your favourite. I hope your tastes haven't changed, Mom, hehe..."
"I should probably get up now. Dad's waiting for me. I hope... you don't miss us too much, Mom. I hope you're having fun up there with your parents. I love you."
