Go, I had said, finish it.
And that was all it took for her to launch to her feet and race back to the center of the blood and bodies, relieving another creature of that duty.
No one else around; only her and that unforgiving, burgeoning power. Power that grew with every precise swipe of the sharp blade through flesh and bone.
She moved with ease and elegance, knowing exactly where to step and lean and swing. She had been forged from the depths of destruction and war, from the very definition of those words.
A chill slithered down my spine. Not out of fear or disapproval, but from the realization of how powerful she could be.
The Queen of Chaos.
Only a few soldiers remained.
They were foolish enough to propel themselves forward. They should have run, and the look in their eyes when vicious strength slammed into them, told me they knew that. Their last moments were filled with regret and sorrow. Yet their pain was only a fragment of what she would feel when the battle was over.
A heartbeat later, when there was a break before the final wave, she stopped. Flames burned around her. A mix of black and white.
And the sword she once clung to, once used to shield and defend with, had been hurtled to the side.
I would have wondered why- but the flames gathered, twirled beneath her feet and carried her into the air as if they had grown into a mighty beast that she commanded. She took in a long deep breath that fueled those flames even more.
One rapid, shallow exhale-
At once, every remaining soldier dropped to the ground. They didn't struggle or fight, there was no blood splatter or splintering bone.
Nothing.
They simply... fell.
At that moment, I promised myself that I would draw the image before me if I ever made it home.
Her eyes had turned red, glowing violent red, and it was as if she was no longer there.
Across the plain was her single opponent- unmoving, unfazed. He looked at her, face beaming with hunger, as if he wanted to devour her. As if he would devour her.
It was unlike anything I had ever seen before.
She's utterly terrifying, the creature muttered from my left.
But he was wrong. She was not terrifying, she was magnificent.
Devastatingly divine.
I said, you won't be terrified when she's the only thing standing between you and your death.
