chapter 045. the strongest man in the world
[ you and i, against them all ]

kuma was dead.
not in the traditional sense. his heart still beat—maybe. but whatever he once was, it wasn't there anymore. his body had been turned into something unrecognizable, a weapon labeled px-0, no longer a man, just a tool. a machine molded to obey the world government without question. a shell. ivankov had said they'd keep him safe during the chaos, so [name] and luffy ran ahead, hearts pounding, minds sharp. or in [name]'s case—sharpened just enough.
and now came their next opponent, mihawk.
so this is the guy who scarred zoro's chest, huh?
mihawk was a tall, lean, and muscular man with black hair, a short beard, mustache and sideburns that point upwards. she figured that he was nicknamed 'hawkeye' because of his strangely colored red eyes with resemebled a hawk. maybe the marines were good at naming a few people...
mihawk wore black and red ornate clothing with a crucifix pendant that hid a little dagger. his attire consisted of a wide-brimmed black hat decorated with a large plume, and a long, open black coat with a red velvet inside with no shirt underneath, with red, flower-patterned sleeves and collar. he wears white pants held up by a decorated belt and tucked inside overly large boots in comparison to his leg size.
mihawk wore a kogatana around his neck, appearing as a golden cross-shaped necklace which is a dagger. his legendary sword, yoru, rested on his back. she's heard enough about the legendary swords, and one of them was this guy's.
the greatest swordsman in the world.
[name] stares at him, deadpanning.
...zoro is better.
"hawkeye!" luffy exclaimed.
mihawk stood in front of the strongest duo of the straw hats with his long sword drawn in front of him.
she doesn't need to focus on his aura to know that this guy is strong. even if she were to present a thousand different arguments to prove zoro was better than this guy, the world would still call mihawk the best swordsman in the world.
...she missed zoro.
she shook her head, snapping away from her thoughts. a bead of sweat ran down her forehead, "captain, we can't fight him right now. he's too strong."
"yeah!" luffy grinned like he didn't just agree they were horribly outclassed. "we're here to save ace, not see if we're stronger than him now!"
