THE NIKE CABIN was empty

THE NIKE CABIN was empty. Dust carried and found home in the corners, on uncleaned photographs, and the memories Mitchell wouldn't let resurface. The room was cold and quiet. Each step caused a moulding floorboard to creak, and the woods to crack beneath the foot.

Mitchell made his way around the cabin silently. He had lived in the same place for seven years. He memorised every inch of the place, from head to toe.

With the brush of his fingertips against the golden walls, he thought back to when it was built. His small frame slotted into the arms of a girl he loved more than anything as he watched a boy he loved more than himself build the cabin from scratch.

He still remembered how the girl's fingers felt in his hair. She would press her lips to his blonde mess and laugh as he excitedly squirmed in her lap. She would pinch his cheeks and teasingly scold him between giggles.

He missed her a little too much for comfort.

His hands searched through his cupboard of clothing. It was mainly camp half-blood shirts since he hadn't been anywhere else in two years. His pants were at least a little more selective; a few sweatpants, a couple jeans and a good amount of shorts.

Mitchell grabbed a handful of them and shoved them into his bag. He put in some deodorant too and some cologne. He couldn't stand smelling anything less than decent. He slipped on some Nike Jordans.

He checked his hair in the mirror, huffing as one stand of hair wanted to go astray from the others. He would've been standing there for hours trying to tame it, if he didn't hear a knock on his door.

"It's open." Mitchell called, not taking his eyes away from the mirror in front of him.

Footsteps echoed through the room, they were light and graceful. The sound stopped just behind Mitchell. He saw the reflection of Addison in the mirror.

"Hey," She strode over to him. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail. "Ready to leave?" Addison patted his back.

Mitchell turned to her, his hard expression had turned soft, but his face was still as intimidating as ever. "I think so. I've got everything I need. Although, I don't know how I'm going to survive with Percy."

Addison chucked and grabbed his wrist and gently guided him out of the cabin, his bag now slung over his shoulder. "You're going to be fine, you have Annie with you."
