Monsterverse Continuation, drafted before GxK so it dosen't fit that cannon. as the Titans run wild on earth ,Godzilla must defend humanity from a monster of their own creation.
The Helicopter hummed across the ocean towards the mass which was visibly moving about. They trundled on for around 30 minutes until the monster was not far ahead of them. The scientist looked down at Hedorah as it sifted through the plastic and other rubbish.
It had a similar build to when it was land based with a handful of key differences. On both sides of its main body it had membranes similar to those of a Nudibranch, that undulated up and down to propel it in the water. It also looked substantially smaller but it was hard to tell without anything to scale it against.
(this is a nudibranch, i recommend looking up a video of them to get a better look)

The creature immediately spotted the Helicopter and dived down into the ocean with an ominous groan.
At that Moment the scientist received a call from Ilene andrews.
"I've got the satellite photo of the Smog Monster's location," Andrews said ,"it's almost exactly in its predicted location so whatever you're chasing must be a dud."
Suddenly, the beast burst out of the ocean, Shooting into the air towards the chopper. The pilot frantically swerved the aircraft dodging Hedorah's huge body as it shot into the air.
Another new feature was the Manta ray-like mouth that stuck out from its body. The front was rigid but the back was soft and flappy, laced with gill-like structures. The scientist wondered if this similarity to an existing species was a coincidence or if it was actively learning and taking inspiration from the environment Like some kind of twisted artist.
(this is what a Manta ray's mouth looks like)

"It's not a dud," the scientist shouted as Hedorah splashed back down into the ocean, "we're being attacked by it, look at your camera!"
Ilene checked the camera on the bottom of the helicopter and was quick enough to see Hedorah swim back into the depths.
"I'll check your coordinates on the image," Dr Andrews said
The scientist pulled up the satellite image and zoomed in on where the helicopter was. Sure enough, Hedorah was there in the picture with the helicopter also visible, following it. But Hedorah was also around 70 miles away so that meant...
"Report back to base," Andrews said, "I'll get the team together to discuss these developments."
"Should I still try to place a tracker?" asked the scientist.
"Ok, but be careful, like I said, we do not know what these creatures are capable of."
Just as Andrews ended the call, Hedorah burst out of the water again but didn't get anywhere close to the Helicopter as the pilot had increased altitude to a safe distance.
Hedora flopped back into the water, glaring up at the Helicopter and circling in the water, clearly livid. Its eyes had migrated further to the top of its head so the best could look up at the helicopter comfortably.
"We still need to tag it," the scientist said to the co-pilot, "so ready the tracker harpoon."
On the base of the Helicopter was a mounted gun with a tracking harpoon in it. The harpoon was installed in the hopes that this helicopter recon mission would also be able to tag the creature so it would be easy to see where the next attack would happen.
The co-pilot turned on the firing software and the screen switched to a manky camera that was on the barrel of the harpoon gun. In the middle of the image was a crosshair which the Co-pilot promptly pointed directly at the smog monster.
The Scientist, intrigued by the monster in general, pressed her face up against the glass to looked out at the creature , swimming in wide circles around the helicopter. The creature roared angrily and it stared up at the chopped it's eyes angling themselves in disorienting ways to get the best view of it's enemy, or possibly it's prey.
A sudden flash of light! The scientist shut her eyes tight and stumbled backwards rubbing her eyes. She tried opening them but her vision danced with warping shapes of purple and green, obscuring her vision.
She looked around the inside of the aircraft, blinking rapidly, wondering if that would even help. As she was doing so she caught sight of a circle of surprisingly bright light on the wall opposite the window. The circle of light grew larger and smaller as if someone was adjusting the size before it disappeared altogether.
Once it was gone the scientist rushed back over to the window and saw that the eyes of the monster had turned shiny and metallic like a mirror and curving in the inverse of a dome, in the shape of a ...
Parabolic mirror...
(this is a parabolic mirror btw. It can be used to focus light onto a very small point)
