The last bell echoed through the halls, and Y/N, Addison, and Zed emerged from class, a somber trio amidst the jubilant cheers. While most of Seabrook High, including the notorious Bucky and the Aceys, reveled in the news that zombies were barred from the Prawn social, a bittersweet aftertaste lingered for those who truly believed in integration.

"I honestly thought we'd all be at the Prawn together," Y/N sighed, her voice heavy with disappointment. "I really believed Seabrook was changing."

Addison, walking between Y/N and Zed, offered a sympathetic smile. "It did change, Y/N. Believe me, I'll find a way to get us all there."Zed, ever the optimist, squeezed Addison's hand. "She's right. Seabrook may have taken a step back, but we won't."

A frown creased Addison's brow. "Or," she countered, a hint of defiance lacing her voice, "we could miss it together."

"No way I'm letting you miss the Prawn," Zed declared, with determination.

"But Zed, if I can't go, then neither can you!"

"Not happening. I wouldn't dream of leaving you behind."

"And I wouldn't dream of leaving you hanging," Addison retorted, a playful glint in her eyes despite the tension.

"Ugh, you two even fight like a perfect couple," Eliza Zambie quipped, strolling up to them. Y/N hadn't seen her friend since cheer camp, and the reunion brought a genuine smile to her face.

"Eliza!" Y/N exclaimed, throwing her arms around the zombie in a warm embrace that drew a few curious stares. Public displays of affection weren't exactly Y/N's forte, but the weight of the Prawn news had loosened her inhibitions. "Girl, it feels like forever!"

"Only a week, technically," Eliza chuckled, returning the hug. But her smile faltered as she noticed the white streak peeking out from beneath Y/N's ponytail. "I heard about the werewolf situation...and what's with the white hair?"

Y/N's smile vanished, a flicker of unease crossing her features. Internally, her mind raced. (It couldn't be... could it? The white streak, the strange power surge... was her secret about to unravel?) She reached up to touch the unfamiliar strand, a cold dread settling in her stomach.

"Everything's fine, 'Liza. Just fine."

"It doesn't look fine," Eliza pressed gently. "And that white streak...well, it could mean two things, right?"

Y/N felt a tremor of fear shoot through her. Eliza was right. The white streak could be a sign of her powers spiraling out of control, or something else entirely – a truth she'd woven a web of lies to conceal. Possibilities, none of them pleasant, swam in her mind. But theres no way Eliza knows about her true nature, so maybe shes just saying it as her scientific side looking for theories, Y/N thought.

Taking a deep breath, Y/N forced a smile. "Maybe it's just genetics," she said, her voice shaky but believable. "Like Addison's streak. Maybe it's just showing up now..."

Eliza studied her friend for a moment, her concern evident. "Y/N, you're not getting old. Genetics could be the answer, you never know. But whatever it is, we'll figure it out together, okay?"

Y/N closed her eyes, drawing strength from Eliza's unwavering support. "Thanks, Eli. You're right. Maybe it's just..."

"Genetics," Addison finished, her voice laced with concern, she couldn't let her cousin up do her in anything. She's the one with weird hair not her.

Eliza nodded. "Fighting injustice keeps me busy," she declared, her usual fire returning. "Even with zombies supposedly free, there's still a lot of work to be done."
