LilyI woke up to my brother screaming. "LILY! Réveille ton cul! Daniel is here and wants to talk to you!"
My body jolted in bed, causing a tension to form in my forehead. I rubbed my temples and let out a groan. I didn't drink too much last night, but enough to make my head hurt. I needed water and food. But now I had to look like a train wreck in front of Daniel Ricciardo.
My legs swung over the side of my bed and I quickly shuffled over to my dresser, where a mirror sat showing off my puffy blood-shot eyes and messy hair. A whimper escaped my lips. I quickly patted my hair down and rubbed my face.
You can do this.
I straightened my shoulders and departed towards the front door. When I rounded the hallway corner, I saw Pierre and Daniel in the kitchen, pouring some coffee. My brother glanced at me and let out a surprised yelp. "She's really going to need some of this..."
"Shut up, Pierre." I gritted my teeth.
Daniel held back a chuckle. He slipped into one of the stools behind the granite island. Our eyes connected for a brief moment where an electrifying current passed through my aching body. His golden-brown orbs glittered as the sun peeked through the windows.
"G'mornin Lily."
"Aren't you supposed to say G'day mate?" I snatched Pierre's mug out of his hands and sip on it myself. His mouth dropped open, staring in shock as I flick him off.
"You're not my mate." Daniel whispered under his breath, causing the hot coffee in my mouth to spill over my lips. Now Pierre was flicking me off and he snatched his mug back, looking offended.
A part of me wanted to ask why I wasn't his mate... but another part of me could guess the answer. Unless he really did hate me. That was a possibility... wasn't it? I liked two guys at the same time, and Daniel was willing to be the one to wait on me.
"You hear that, Lils? Danny isn't your friend after all." Pierre grabbed the box of croissants I got at the market the other day. He tucked it under his arm and retreated down the hallway. "Maybe you scared him looking like Chewbacca!"
I closed my eyes, finding all the inner peace inside of my body to sustain from yelling back a slew of curse words at him. When I opened them again, Daniel was sipping from his own cup of coffee. He waited a moment before speaking, glancing at the hallway with a noticeably concerned expression. His body loosened and he set his mug down. "I just wanted to thank you again for helping me yesterday."
My eyes lingered on him. He was dressed casually- a black tee shirt, grey shorts, and a silver Rolex on his wrist. His hair was extra curly today and I had the instinct to run my hands through the soft-looking strands. I chewed on my bottom lip before hiking myself up on the counter behind me... adding some distance between us. "Of course! Thanks for choosing me to help. I hope you had a great time, even with all the drama..."
Daniel smiled bright, showing off his pearly white teeth. "What's New Years Eve without a little spunk?"
I chuckled with him. We let the laughter die out before there was an awkward silence. I felt weird after yesterday. I had such a good time with Daniel, but Arthur was always going to have my heart until I said something to him. I needed to tell Arthur, even if he didn't feel the same way, but that was terrifying to even think about let alone do. I leaned against the fridge to my side. "You think Max and Fallon are laying in bed together right now?"
"Oh most definetly." Daniel nodded. "They're probably already planning the wedding."
"I know it all happened fast... but I like them together."
