15. Combat training

When we got to the counter to take our food, I mentally cursed the bowls for being so small and took two trays with four bowls of rice and curry each.

"Uhm, Y/n, we can take for ourselves?" Mina said confused.

"Oh yeah don't worry, it's for me." I smiled at her, and everyone but Denki looked at me horrified.

"I'll never get used to your appetite. If I didn't know you, I'd think your quirk was having an endless stomach!" Denki laughed and I laughed along.

'That's because it is...'

After lunch was over, it was time for the long-awaited Hero Basic Training class. Everyone was excited and waited restlessly for the teacher to come.

"I AM... COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"

The doors burst open and in came All Might. The whole class (again, exaggeration) gasped at his presence. It was my first time meeting him, if you didn't count yesterday at the quirk assessment test, yet I couldn't find it too exciting, after all, I was still unacquainted with today's culture.

"It's All Might!"

"Wow, he really is a teacher!"

"That's a costume from the Silver Age, isn't it?"

"The style is so different, it's giving me goose bumps."

All Might walked up to the front of the classroom and started talking. Everyone listened attentively.

"I teach Hero Basic Training. It is a subject where you train in different ways to learn the basics of becoming a hero. You'll take the most units of this subject. Let's get right into it!"

He paused to make a pose and then he held up a card that said 'BATTLE'.

"This is what we'll do today... combat training!"

Everyone got excited and All Might then pointed at some shelves that started coming out from the wall. He explained that there were our costumes, and I got a little excited too.

"After you change, gather in Ground Beta!" he said, and gave us our suitcases.

Me and Mina were walking to the changing rooms with our suitcases. Mina was ecstatic while I was composing myself, resisting the urge to sprint right to the changing rooms and try out my costume.

"I'm sooo excited Y/n! I spent days designing mine!" Mina exclaimed and I smiled excitedly too.

"I already knew what I wanted, so it didn't take that long for me, still, I'm excited to put it on." I said.

"Ooo really? I really wanna see your costume!"

"Me too! Me too N/n!" Doshi said and I laughed at the resemblance.

"Hm? What is it?"

"Oh nothing, you just remind me of someone I know."

"They must be amazing then!" Mina said proudly and I chuckled.

We arrived at the changing rooms, and we all opened our suitcases. I opened mine and held up a familiar uniform. It didn't look exactly the same, but similar enough. I smiled softly, remembering the bittersweet memories.
