Just as I was about to open the front door, it harshly opened from inside, making me stumble forward a little.
"Y/n!" Keigo exclaimed, dragging me through the living room and sitting me down at the couch before I could register what was happening.
He opened his mouth, but before taking in what he had to say, I fixated on the enormous amount of food on the large mahogany coffee table. There were plates with ramen, curry rice, sushi, tempura, sukiyaki, tonkatsu, chicken nuggets, pancakes, you name it! The aroma filled my nostrils and tickled, you could tell it was spicy!
"-/n." I snapped my head back to Keigo.
"Hey, sis! Are you even listening?" He sighed.
"Sorry bro, you were saying?" I rolled my eyes. If he had bought so much food, he could not not expect that it would distract me from whatever he was saying. I was fucking hungry!
The blond sighed and looked at the food.
"You know what, eat up first and then we'll talk."
"Thank you!" I beamed and wasted no time in grabbing the nearest plate and shoving everything in my mouth.
"I don't think I'll ever get how you manage to stuff yourself with so much food. Y'know, if I was any other person, I would've probably gone bankrupt long ago." I ignored him and continued to devour the food on the table, without spilling a thing.
---Hawk's POV---
She seemed unharmed. That was good at least. An attack like that would have probably traumatized anyone. Yet, here she was, shoving food down like any other day.
'Y/n never ceases to amaze me.'
During the time I had known her, I had learned many things about her, such as how much she enjoyed late night flights, spicy food, trying new things, how sharp her senses were, how grumpy she could get when she was hungry, how smart she was in general, things like that. Yet, in times like this, I realized how little I really knew her, and she felt like a total stranger.
She seemed totally unaffected by the whole situation. The only time I had really seen her show any strong emotions was the first time I met her at that rooftop when she had a meltdown. Yet, I still didn't know what it was about.
It hit me that I didn't know anything about her. I knew she'd been homeless. She had no records of existing. Her family was nowhere to be seen. There were no families with her last name that could've lost a child. There was no one her age registered with a similar fire quirk like hers. For her to be unaffected by the recent villain attack, what had she experienced before? Or was she bottling everything up?
Yes, when I thought about it, we didn't know each other. She acted strange for a girl her age. She could very well be associated with some sort of criminal organization. There were so many more red than green flags, yet I couldn't help but feel this strange familial bond to her. She looked so peaceful trying to figure out what to eat next.
I wanted to get to know her so bad. But, although I wanted it, would it be intruding on Y/n's privacy? We all had our secrets after all. I cared for her in a way I couldn't begin to understand. Maybe, I wasn't meant to understand it. Perhaps, it should just be.
I had left a note on my agency to announce my absence for the rest of today and tomorrow. Hopefully they wouldn't freak out. I did it from time to time, so the commission wouldn't think much of it. I wanted to be here to assure Y/n was doing well after the incident, but seeing her now, it seemed like she was coping well with it.
