His New Tutor

I had one goal, DO NOT FALL FOR ANTHONY. Where did everything go wrong? The simple
answer is the day my mom met her best friend, if only it was that easy, I could blame my mom
for the mess, I’ve found myself in, I’m in love with the one guy I absolutely shouldn’t love.
Anthony Keys, captain and quarterback of the football team. To explain why this is so horrible, I
should take you back to the beginning. Me and Anthony have known each other for as long as I
can remember. He’s always made my life a living hell, when we were kids he would pull pranks
on me and tease me. I could never do anything about it because our moms were best friends,
they would always just brush it off as “boys will be boys’’ eventually I got fed up with him and
promised myself to stay away from him at all costs. A promise I kept until my Senior year.
It all started when I was asked to be a tutor, I didn’t know who I would be tutoring otherwise I
would have never said yes.
I was sitting at the library preparing for the tutoring session when I heard him.
“If it isn’t my oldest and dearest friend, Melody Lockwood,” His voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Get out of here Anthony,” I replied irritated. I didn’t even bother to look up at him until I heard
the chair squeak as he pulled it out to sit down in front of me. I glance up at him, taking in his
perfect features, slightly wavy brown hair, puppy dog eyes, and his signature smile, that made
all the girls at school throw themselves at him. “Damn, why does he have to look so hot and be
such an asshole,” I thought to myself. “What are you doing?” I asked confused.
“Sitting with my tutor,” He replied, he leaned back in his chair, and his smile turned into more of
a smirk.
“What!?“ I said praying I heard him wrong.
“You’re my new tutor,” He leaned over the table to make sure I would hear him.
“Why me?” I asked but really I was complaining.
“Because you have the highest grades in the school, and I need all the help I can get,” Anthony
replied. He wasn’t wrong about that, I have the perfect GPA and scored 5’s on every AP test I’ve
ever taken.
“Okay, I guess I can try and help you, what classes do you need help with?” I said dreading
every minute of this interaction.
“All of them,” He said quietly.
“All of them!?” I yelled, “How can you possibly be failing every class?” I looked at him shocked.
“If you are just gonna yell at me I could have had Coach tutor me,” He snapped back. I felt a
twinge of guilt for yelling at him.
“Okay, sorry let’s just get to work,” I grab his notebook to see what he’s been learning in class. I
open his notebook and it’s blank. I look back at him, I think my expression says it all because he
just looks back at me like a kid who just got caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar.
“Umm…okay we’ll just go off the textbook then,” I reach for his textbook and ask him “Do you
know what chapter you’re on?” He shakes his head no. I am starting to lose my patience. My
phone buzzes which means we are out of time. Saved by the bell, I let out a sigh of relief.
“Okay, I’m gonna need you to start taking notes in class or just try and remember what chapter
you are in, please,” I start to pack up my things and make my way out of the library and towards
my car.
“Hold on, Melody wait!” Anthony yells out as he follows me to my car. I turn to face him.
“What is it now?” I ask annoyed.
“Can you give me your phone number?” He asks, he flashes me his signature smile.
“Why?” I ask, I think to myself “No way he’s asking me out or something,”
“In case I have a question about homework or something,” He answers, but then a smirk
replaces his smile, “Why did you think, I was asking you out or something?”
“No, I just thought it was weird that you wanted my number” I snap back,
He takes a few steps closer and hands me his phone to put my number in. I grab his phone and
then put my phone number in. I hand his phone back.
“Don’t do anything to make me wanna block you” He takes his phone back but steps closer to
me.
“What would you have done if I was asking you out? He asks looking down at me.
“I would have said no, obviously,” He looks slightly hurt at my response.
“Why?” He asks.
“I have my reasons,” I answer, not looking at him, I’m putting my stuff in my car.
“Come on you know you love me,”
“I really don’t love you,” If I only knew how much of a lie that was.
