We arrived to Italy early morning. Gia decided I needed the getaway sooner. She convinced me to buy my ticket early. I said why not my life was bad enough, I deserved a good time for all my hard work. Talia met us there. She had a catering gig to complete before she could come.
I checked into my hotel and changed into something more weather appropriate. Gia was on a zoom call with Rex, so I made my way down to the beach. On my way out of the hotel I was run into by a man in a black suit. He was quick to apologize.
"My apologies miss"
"It's fine. I was in my head and didn't even see you to dodge you"
I noticed he had men guarding him and they were armed. He helped me to my feet and once I told him I was okay, he went on his way. They were mean looking, but all were nice to me. I smiled as he kissed my hand and spoke a French departure. My French was rusty, but I knew he was saying goodbye.
I blushed as he graced me with his smile. He slowly let my hand go. I made my way to the beach. I let the waves heal my weeping heart. I cried as I thought of my troubles back home I wiped my eyes and migrated to the water. I took off my sandals and held them in my hands. The water was cool on my feet.
I enjoyed my time on the beach. I made my way back to the hotel and went to check on Gia. She never made it down. When I got to her room, she answered the door in tears.
"What's wrong? I came to check on you when you didn't come down"
"Rex, wants a divorce. He found a younger idiot with more money to keep him busy"
"I'm sorry Gia. How long have you known?"
"Years"
"Years! Gia why didn't you say anything?"
"I thought we could get through it"
"Well he doesn't know what he's losing!"
"He wants half of my company. His new muse is into law."
"So am I! We can work this out. We're on vacation, so let's forget our troubles and go on vacation."
"I can't, Sara. I'm going home to deal with Rex. My lawyers will eat him alive! I have proof he cheated on me. Thank you for being willing to help me. I want you to enjoy your time here on me. I'm sorry I cant stay"
"Talia is coming down, so no worries"
"She actually had to redo the catering job. Something about a mix up. She really did try to make it. We feel horrible. But that's no reason you cant enjoy yourself."
"It's no fun without you two"
"I know and we will make it up to you. Please have a good time. Call me if you need me"
"Promise you will call when you get home? I can phone Helo for a bodyguard. I may just wing it and unplug from my norm. I want to know you're okay."
"I will be"
She had already packed her things. I rode with her to the airport and saw her off. I returned to the hotel afterwards. I was looking at the things I had planned and decided to go see the Eiffel Tower sooner than the itinerary stated. I was taking photos when I noticed the group of men from earlier when I ran into the gentlemen, were present.
I looked all around but didn't see him. After some time I made my way back to the hotel. I phoned Helo and he told me he would be here tomorrow. I didn't want to call him, but I felt uneasy all of a sudden. I sat at the bar inside the hotel. I ordered food and checked on the operations back home. I was doing well business wise.
I watched for hours people come and go. I read on my kindle to pass time. I felt lonely, but my books kept me company. I saw women trying to get into the VIP area. When I actually paid attention, I saw the men who were guarding the man from earlier standing guard. The women threw themselves at them as well. I giggled when I overheard one of the ladies say she would take them both if she could just get a peak.
